Just discovered you guys today when your moving to central qld video popped up in my youtube feed. One day we would like to get some land like yours and live off gridish. I don't blame you for not salvaging the house .. if its gonna be your forever home you gotta be happy with it .. having said that what an amazing difference a lick of paint does eh! Super impressed with your progress so far.. would love to see more videos about the house progress and even just videos about what you guys do with that much land.. so jealous of you guys so I've subscribed so that I can live vicariously through you guys for now. Cheers .. great channel!

You are right to tear down and start over. The house does not look stable or safe to me. /Yes it's sad that people before you didn't take care of this house, but it is what it is, and you are better off to salvage and rebuild. Looking so forward to seeing what you build and enjoy this beautiful property! :)

I was born in Mackay & left in 1992. I have lived on the Gold Coast ever since. Love being back Central Qld way with You.. love Reno's & Anything like this! 🫶 I agree with you about the traffic now on the Gold Coast, we have had a the biggest Southerners invasion in history 😌 I'm so sad it has turned out this way the rental crisis/ real estate... pushing Long time locals out ..young & old & people who have families & their children were all settled in schools & Sports . recreations. Little & no regards to Community. Good Luck Brooke & Denis .. I will keep watching this Space. 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

Your previous video about the move came up in my recommended section when you first uploaded it so I watched it as I enjoy these sort of make over videos. I was really excited to discover you are a fellow Aussie so I hit subscribe immediately. I have to say I don't blame for eventually knocking the house down and building your own. It would probably cost you a lot more to renovate and fix that place up than it would to build a new home. I would love to live out whoop whoop but encounters with snakes scare the shit out of me. You are a much braver woman than me Brooke. Looking forward to the next episode in this series. 👍

We bought a house in Berri SA late last year in the best part of town for $170,000. Needs a lot of work too. Been up on the roof myself patching small hole replacing loose nails with roofing screws. Then doing renovations down stairs to make it nice and comfortable. It’s a 70+ year old solid brick house and very solid structurally. What you guys are taking on is similar but definitely next level! Good luck with it. We have no regrets about making the bush change. Swapped the ocean for the Murray River.

Well done. My heart broke when I watched you move in, so much work to do. I'm so glad you decided not to renovate. What you have done looks great, but those creatures have made themselves a home there and its time they were evicted. Can not believe a builder lived there previously. Good luck, am looking forward to watching your dream take shape.

Absolutely magnificent transformation on such an old house. It is definitely liveable now, while you build the shed. Can’t wait to see what comes next. I moved up here about a year ago from the GC myself. I'm currently reno-ing my place in Mt Morgan. Luckily I'm a tradie so I can do it all myself. 'Getting there' is my daily mantra. Houses are built very differently up here. Have you noticed the lack of architraves and the 'half finished' walls? Both of those are pet peeves of mine so I'm lining with gyprock and putting up architraves and skirtings. Great job on the quick re-do, I think the house might grow on you. I know I just love my old house.😁

Yes, there are lots of pet peeve in this house, where do I start 🤣 Good luck on your reno too.

OMG, I just realised I have the same thing going on under my old Qlder. It's the microbats hanging from the floor above and pooing on the floor. They drop their dropping right in front of the laundry door, and all these years, I have wondered why I could not get the mice to leave! Except it wasn't mice. It was microbats. I knew they were there, but it never occurred to me the poo was theirs! Derr! You will have heaps of snakes, they come to buildings. Luckily they are all carpet snakes which are harmless if you don't want rodents. Just leave them be. They don't want to live with you, just near you, because humans attract rodents and the snakes are the best way to end that relationship. Once all the rodents are gone, the snakes will go too.

Hey there Brooke and Denis, your video came up recently in my feeds so I have watched a few episodes and have subscribed to your channel. Love this property you have acquired. I lived in Rocky a while back and loved CQ. I really love your old Queenslander, it has so much character even though it is neglected, and although you will knock it down, you have made it super comfortable so far with your quick reno. Looks amazing and wow, what a difference some paint and patching will do! I wonder if you will rebuild something similar, like another highset Queenslander, to take in the breezes and beautiful views? I look forward to seeing what you do with this house and the property in further episodes. Best wishes and well done :)

I think you're very wise to pull the house down and start again. You'll have a much better and more efficient house to live in. There are loads of old Queenslanders in better condition to save. You are really brave but then you are young and strong so it's the best time to do something like this! Look forward to see what you do.

I'm excited to watch a "local" youtube channel.... something very unique about a Queenslander, snakes in your air conditioner, a micro bat and huntsman all in one video... And now everyone can see how that "secret" room gets created ... you know the one that turns up 20 yrs later when the new owners take over and renovate? That bathroom would give you nightmares if you accidentally uncovered it from behind a secret wall!
@twinshock1752 жыл бұрын
I fully understand to loose the old house, it would be a labour of love to get a Queenslander back to something nice. In Bris it fetches the interest and returns, sadly it would not in Calliope for that. When you demo it down, there are no salvage yards in Gladdy for period stuff like that, but Rocky has something, and many do up these homes for sought after original windows etc. Good work on the fixer up stuff so far!
@diannefarrell77152 жыл бұрын

That house looks like it is completely past the renovation stage so I agree with your idea of repurposing what you can and rebuilding the entire house. Are you going to do a highest house? It is cooler in the summer and catches the breezes. So handy to use the lower levels for storage too. I live in Hervey Bay but would love to move out to a quiet area.
