recently switched to clipless after a long time on flats.... much better than flats overall, specially pedaling over rough stuff and pumping. The whole shoe becomes the pedaling platform when you're clipped in so you have greater sensitivity and maneuverability overall. they do take getting used to, I found the bike felt a little 'twitchy' for the first few hours but after that you really do become one with the bike.

I tried flats but shredded my shins regularly, so went to clipless with big footbed for the tech sections I unclip at

Clipless, by far a superior system. Flats are only better if you can't commit to your lines and feel the need to bail.

Flats cause I like to move around on the pedals. The little bit of pedaling efficiency lost is fine by me. Way comfier and confident on flats.
