Right now, my dream custom daily driver is an IS300 with a Coyote swap and the MT82(undeserved reputation, they're holding up in 1000HP drag cars) 6-speed for that 1.00 5th gear. It just seems like the perfect combination of '90s-'00s analog, lightweight premium sedan, with a modern, power dense, high revving 'Murican V8!

@@FuhQ64 The biggest reason by far is still their raw production numbers - they would cost as much as a Coyote from the junkyard if they were only produced in the numbers that Coyotes are. There isn't another engine that offers even close to the potential HP:$ as the LS, all because they're found in Chevy cars, Chevy trucks, Chevy vans, Chevy SUVs, Pontiac cars, GMC trucks, GMC vans, GMC SUVs, Cadillac cars, Cadillac SUVs, Hummers, even the Saab 9-7 and Isuzu Aacender. Everything else produced in such quantities, offered in so many models for such a long period of time are cheap garbo I4s and V6s. The compact size and lightweight vs displacement/power potential is largely just a coincidental benefit, but most anyone willing to perform an engine swap would be willing to cut a little sheet metal for so much HP for the dollar even if it did have big DOHC heads(see Mercury Marine if you'd like a set for an LS or BBC). After all, 2Js are commonly swapped for similar reasons(obviously not to the same extent, the LS is just on a different level of 'mass production'), in spite of their very restrictive height & length(the great downfall of the I6, almost makes you wonder why we never saw many high performance slant 6s).
