They're moving to a patreon model. Their entire message is a big "F you" to the UK politicians suggestion small artists and creatives should just quit their passion and start going for new jobs because what they are doing right now isn't viable in the covid-19 era. Their goal is to inspire other artists to do the same and be able to support their band better, I'm pretty sure. ^^

they set up their own recording studio, they produce alot of their own merch basically doing everything for themselves they dont have any middle men. they basically work their asses off to keep themselves going and i praise them highly

Bro I joined the Sleeps Society on Patrion and pretty much over night they made over ten thousand dollars if I did my math correctly maybe close to that but either way we get to be apart of something they created and and help them keep making music for us it’s honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever been apart of!

It means they're sick of a music industry model where 90% of their income is taken by other people. Label execs, promoters, A&R, "tour support", reactors, etc. They're right- musicians don't make a dime unless they run the business themselves. Slipknot still claims that they haven't been paid a cent on album sales and make their money through touring, Prince was in an epic legal battle, 30 Seconds to Mars made an entire documentary about their fight with Warner, Linkin Park went through the same thing... It's about changing the way we look at artists from some asshole walking up to a musician and saying "Hey kid, you wanna make it big? We'll make you a star" to helping enable an artist to change the world in their own way, on their own terms, and make a living doing it.

I've come see what was the point here was. I think the main goal after making a living is to teach all those young kids if they wanna go far to make sure they get 50 50 on their deal or don't take the deal. Maybe a band was young and dumb, but it's still that band's fault if they signed a deal where they just take it up the butt. Btw, you are quite wrong about reactors in you list of people taking money from the artist. Based on my own experience and what I see on other people's channels, I'd say 80% of all reaction videos are copyright claimed and the revenue goes to the label. That goes in with just more money for the labels that the band is never seeing. The labels are screwing them more that they know and they continue to take it and sign terrible contracts. I blame the bands, I can't the labels for making the best deal for themselves

@@Hoopsick That's exactly what I'm talking about. Adhering to a system created for and by people who aren't involved in the creative process is the problem. Labels collect all of those cuts, from KZbin videos to Twitch to jukeboxes to kareoke and else- the artist doesn't see that and the current system puts everyone at each others' throats just to make a living. Lars Ulrich hates the whole Napster thing, but he was just trying to do an early form of what While She Sleeps is attempting. They're trying to create a model where everyone wins all-around. Sure, signing a garbage deal falls on the artist, but why is that seemingly the only option to make a living in the industry?

Maybe. I'm trying to find a day where I can commit to punk rock/emo/hardcore reactions weekly, but my schedule is just all over the place right now. Its hard to integrate bands that are that far from the typical sound on the channel at random, unless the band has something new and very popular (like mgk ones I did). If I just drop a song in that's that far from the normal of the channel and it's not popular and hot right now or just a classic banger, most of my subscribers are not going to click and then KZbin isn't really gonna show it to anyone else when they see that I couldn't even get my subs to click. So there's no point in that the way the channel is right now. I like some Rise Against and they'll definitely be someone to try and work in when I come up with a plan of how to get clicks in that genre.

@@Hoopsick If your schedule is so tight I can understand, but im sure that a lot of people in this community know and like Rise Against. You could start with Savior or Satellites, these are well known songs of them. They are actually the band that paved the way for me too metal
