Hooray, finally back with the Artis gorillas!

15/6/2021: It had been six months since I was last in Artis, so of course I was very curious about the gorillas. They hadn't changed much, except that the youth had grown a bit. Kleine Damsi (18/10/2018) had become a bit tougher and Yanga (29/10/2016) was clearly a toddler. Silverback Akili (1994) has 2 adult females, Binti (1992) and Dafina (1987). Douli (27/2/2012) and little Damsi are Dafina's sons. Bembosi (31/05/2011) is the son of Binti.
Shae (21/1/2016) and his brother Shambe (4/9/2011) unfortunately no longer have a mother. But they fully participate in the group. This also applies to Yanga, although she has to put in a little more effort. Yanga was born in Hanover, unfortunately rejected by her mother Zazie. As a result, she had to be cared for by people. She has been in Artis since 30/8/2017, after a long introduction she was finally accepted.

My comment yesterday went something like this: Until now I wasn’t aware of this troop. After a little research It was heartbreaking to learn what happened to Shambe/Shae Mom and also what Yanga had to endure not only growing up but being integrated into this troop. Thank you for sharing this troop with us.
