I think that saying "Totally Minecraft!" every time you see a series of cubes is an indication of how poor your attention for the world is......even if it this video was really inspired by Minecraft. I find it really funny people are like; "WoAH MINECRAFT IN REAL LIFE!?" and it becomes a huge fuckin fight, I can see why people are reminded of Minecraft but this is more of just an artistic style that Cyriak played with, if you look at his other works you'll notice he does a lot of repeating visual transformations, tree-like imagery, and ESPECIALLY mildly disturbing stuff. Frankly I love Cyriak and his art form. I love finding new things he makes.

It's actually quite unique as an example of some curious theory, that there are universes, like ours, but which are smaller than smallest things in the world, and inside these, perhaps, even smaller universes exist. Also the animation is based on cubes, which "...is a symbol of stability and permanence, of geometric perfection..." That's what Google said, though :]

+MuffinTastic Minecraft does not use voxels, not really. Voxel is a 3D equivalent of pixel. It is one-color volume element (hence, VoxEl). Minecraft uses textured cubes, and sometimes models, much like a Cube engine, which you should look up.
