I was lucky enough to stay with a Swiss family there for two weeks in the summer of 1974. Climbed the Breithorn too! Since I come from Florida, it took 10 days of hiking to become acclimated to the thin air. What fun!

no worries also youngsters are there and do sports like mountainbike, paragliding, inlineskating, swimming... or during winter skiing, snowboarding, visiting the igloo village on the glacier and more :-) there are also Clubs in the Village, no need to sit on your Hotelbed all holidays haha =)

Beautiful- I always wondered what it would be like to be there in the summertime. Was there many years ago in December for skiing (which was great and beautiful as well). Must go back someday in Summer... the snow was so deep for that half of the week I spent there many places were inaccessible... Skiiing was some of the best ever though! Great video- very nicely done !

the most amazing thing on zermatt is the nature, the mountains. they are real and elementary while the village itself is pretty much filled by tourists and big-walleted people.

@Niche79 In Switzerland I was traveling with a group of 19 people, although all the material in this video was shot when I was out exploring on my own.
Yes!! Is better that way. You get to see and do more on your own without anyone disturbing. Thanks for your video it brought me memories.

I love the scenery, and the architecture of the town... but it would seem that the residents captured in your video are all over the age of 60. This would be a problem for me... it would feel like I'm living in a retirement village, which is depressing. I would much rather have a wooden cabin deep into the mountain range, secluded from all the geezers. Each day I would go out exploring the wilderness with my handy rifle, and bring home some wild game and grill it while I write my book :)

Wonderful video work, really. Another beautiful place that I will never get to see. It's a shame that they used concrete to line the waterway, it looks very ugly. They should have used boulders and willows in order to make the area look more natural. Nice that they have preserved so many of the old buildings, but some of the new ones look really out of place, they need more strict design guidelines to maintain the charm of the place.
