Here I take a look back at the 1960's with my Hoover Senior 652A, one of the biggest selling cleaners of that period.
The 652 was launched in 1959 as a pink and white machine with a pink vinyl bag. A single speed motor model, the 652 was the direct replacement of the 638 and ran until 1962.
It then became the grey model 652A, followed by a green model 652A in the mid 60's, then became the 6525, in blue, which, in the early 70's, was replaced by the Senior Ranger U4002.
My machine is not in the best of conditions but still runs very well, despite now being 50 years old. I would guess at the date of manufacture of the machine I show to be 1963/1964. The ratings plates showing the year code did not come in until 1967.
