The other video is still the same band, they just change the musicians (and leaders of the band) just change their main singer from time to time. Although Geike (the singer in this vid) is the only one that actually left instead of getting replaced and she came back to the band recently so let's hope they stay together for a while now.

What is it about this odd video that is so appealing & great? Over 20 years old, it is fresher and more interesting than just about anything new. The song, the band and the singer are big fixtures in this equation. The fact that they took a chance on such a strange video must have taken a great leap of confidence. I really like this Belgian band. The music they write is very beautiful and excellent for listening and relaxing. The Magnificent Tree album is a timeless masterpiece. Congratulations! In fact, all of their albums are masterpieces of alternative pop music. I call it "alternative pop music" for the simple reason that Hooverphonic music isn't just limited to Trip Hop, Dream Pop or Indie. Their excellent music is beyond any alternative pop music genre. I think few people understand the significance of that giant plant-man and her obsession with protecting him. Shutting away from everybody and everything, only to be with him. It's actually not a story about love, but a story of co-dependence, and obsession, addiction. It could really be writen about anything we obsess over. Very fitting music for this story.

I think it's heavily implied that the cabbage creature was never real. The woman in the song just had some sort of terror of reality which she was desperate for something to distract from, and the light making the cabbage shrivel and die seemed to symbolise the fantasy dying when reality kicks in.
