I interpreted The last lyrics 'The farmer stands and say "what happened to the land? It used to be fertile, it used to be good. When I was a lad." As someone looking back on their old self and reminiscing about a better time.

I... where do I begin? My very close friend Cody showed this to me about a year ago, he's been out of my life for a long while now and Im so afraid I'll never know why. This song holds close every memory of him I'll ever have. I can't listen to it without bawling my eyes out. The lyricism reminds me so, so terribly much of him. Mister Bucket, if you're reading this sappy garbage, I really wish the best for you. I do. I mean that. Thank you for the memories.

I don't know why, but today this song is making me cry. I just imagine all the characters in the song are birds, like the old man with the book is an owl, the boy with the kite is a chicken, and maybe the narrator is a guinea fowl or some other kind of goose
@rowanheart81223 жыл бұрын
On second thought, I feel like the narrator is a rabbit, and the kid is some kind of snake. Because he wants to fly, but snakes rather notably, don't have wings

I love songs like this for some reason, where it has a folk tone to it and it isn’t exactly ordered and everyone starts yelling. Songs like that make me so happy for some reason. I love the part where she yells “I love you guys!” :D
@so1arsystem8662 жыл бұрын
I can't describe exactly why, but I really love this song. It just has that kind of authentic sound to it, and as another commenter said, it just seems like the artists had fun making this!

This name of the song really makes sense hop along means you can sing in any time have a good voice or bad voice you can hop along any time I don't really understand why other people hate the yelling in the end but that's the purpose of the song you can hop along any time you want this song is really good and always a legend Please for the future generations... don't let this song fade away and be forgotten

this song sounds like the final cutscene before the credits roll, with the protagonist singing and playing guitar with their friends on a field as the sun sets in front of them (when everyone starts singing together, the credits start rolling)

The best way I could interpret what the song is about is by assumptions. I think this song talks about toxic masculinity and back then how young men where forced into war. I feel like the last bit with the farmer also touched on pollution or someone looking back at the past for a longing for the past to come back. I love this song a lot but it's tough to figure out the main topic, themes and meanings.

To be honest, this song kinda calms me down, so i think some good art could come from this
@Atlasworld20053 жыл бұрын
Theory: the whole song is a letter to the singer's Father, the Wren, who is overseas, and in the war, hence the reference "Write back to me, Wren", and " here lie 100 men, fighters every one of them, they went into battle, oh no, they won't be home tonight". I think the whole song talks about how the singers Dad is going to war and is assuring the singer that he will be back. "I'll certainly be sure to stay above the ground" and about how he's going to miss the author of this song, and will be thinking of her while he fights.

I like this song because you don't have to be good at singing to sing along. The vocals are loud, and scratchy, but it just adds to to the songs charm. You could honestly get the impression that a goose is singing it

Ive come up with a new theory about this song. It's told from the perspective of a God wandering the land in the guise of a mortal(form of an ant). Goose and Wren dont write back because the God doesn't realize how much time really has passed.
@honeycomb6902 жыл бұрын
My brain decided this song follows the story of a woman who had to flee her home because of a war while pregnant, raising her children alone. One of her kids runs away and gets caught up in a life of drugs and crime, the other trying to live a simple life but quickly falls down the same path as their sibling. The story ends w/ the twins getting arrested and their mother, not having seen either one in years, bails them out. Edit: The one who ran first is trans (ftm), and the woman's husband went to fight in the war before she had to flee.
