Got a tight 80 seconds to spare? It’s all the time you need to fly commercial across the Orkney Islands. The word’s shortest nonstop flight is a tiny hop between the islands of Westray and Papa Westray in the United Kingdom, a mere 1.7 miles (2.7 km) apart. For the past 50 years, Scottish airline Loganair has been transporting islanders between the two archipelagos, becoming an integral part of many passengers daily commute. it is a Norman Islander, one of the best regional airliners actually. More than 1200 of these bad boys were manufacture and it is still being manufactured today, after almost 60 years. if you really want to see something really weird, google norman trislander. that shit's dope! :d

@@TheKurtkapan34 The Britten Norman Islander was also a pretty popular skydiving aircraft in the UK for many years, although long since surpassed in that role by the Cessna 208. As a jumpship, the BN2 is a decent workhorse, although slow to altitude unless you have the turbine-engined version. But if you're only going to be in the air for just over a minute and you're only going up a couple of hundred feet then I guess turbines would be an unnecessary extravagance! :)

Royal Brunei recently introduced the RB-Link flights, which is basically short flights to small towns. What they do is they give passengers drinks in 240ml boxes, like the drinks you see in 7-Eleven, before takeoff. Maybe Loganair can use that strategy... give passengers drinks before they got to the plane!!

You should do a film on the situation in the US state of Hawaii. Inter-island, people just fly. There used to be inter-island boats, and there was even a hydrofoil service tried at one time (one of 'em blew up and it was filmed by a tourist; the footage was used in an episode of the original Hawaii 5-0 TV series). Small islands, rough channels, and relatively low demand means everyone just flies.
