Absolutely loved this video! I am so sick of everyone thinking we have to decorate in a whitewashed world. Not my style. Your home is warm, welcoming and cozy! My friend and I have a KZbin channel all about stitching ( country stitchers) so, your walls really spoke to me!!! Thank you so much, Deb

I could very much imagine a room full of ladies, present company included, sitting around on tufted cushions working on needlepoint while the clock chimes the hours. Lots of tea to be poured and sipped, stories to be told. Just a cozy room that says "welcome to my story". Thank you for sharing!

I have always had a love/hate relationship with decorating magazines and books. They say no artificial foliage, no clutter, how many teapots do you need, and on and on. Dear Jeri you are amazing and your style goes a long ways in showing how you can create the most wonderful home in your own taste. Your collections are so lovely. You inspire me to get some of my treasures out of boxes and display them regardless of "style". Thank you for the most beautiful video!!

I love to look at decorating books, but in the end I just go my own way. We should surround ourselves with the things we love, no matter what the "experts"tell us or what the latest trend happens to be.

Yes...Yes....Yes Lots of pillows and Quilts and padding that is exactly what I love. My daughter went out with a young man and he used to make fun of my pillows everywhere but I’m glad to say they didn’t work out and her current boyfriend is so lovely now.. (he is a keeper). I’m so happy in my space and love collecting Art, pretty plates, cups, teapots, vases & plants. I must say that I have wanted a Green & Blue braided American rug for about 20 years....I think it is time I get one. Thank you for showing us your beautiful home 💐

Being a cross-stitcher I was VERY interested in your tour. Minimalist...not a word in my decorating style. I love seeing how folks style their homes but minimalism and white are NOT for me either. Candles, family photos and my personal needlework are mixed in every aspect of my home decor. One thing you made me realize today...I'm not alone in my love of collecting things and displaying them around the many rooms of my home. I am so thankful for your willingness to share both your inside and your outdoors with us. Looking forward to more vlogs enlightening and entertaining me!!!:):):)

Vicki, I love to enter a home filled with the makers needlework, nothing is quite as personal, lovely and authentically historical. Most of my needlework pieces were "finds" and about a quarter of them are my own work.

the sampler you worked in 1982 is very similar to the one I worked in 1962. That was my first embroidered piece. I was 10 yrs old and received a blue ribbon at our town fair. It hangs on the wall in my log farmhouse. I enjoyed your home tour, thanks for sharing. I don't have collections per se and it is rare for me to appreciate seeing them in homes but yours are fascinating, valuable and well curated. My style is functional farmhouse and though it may look like we collect old vintage items, we actually use these things. The glass milk bottles on the hoosier, the various kitchen items and enamelware, the wood dough bowls, the big old cookie jar, the crocks holding potatoes and onions, all are quite experienced and still well used. I like to think about the women who used these items before they came to me, their stories are connected to mine. I imagine you understand this connection as well.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow 4 жыл бұрын
That is so interesting that you could see the age on the Sampler... I was much older than 10 when I stitched it. I use many of my old items, especially kitchen items. More fragile things such a quilts and baskets are for display only. I'm glad you put your wonderful old history items to use. I have a 200 yr old wooden bowl ,passed down in the family. it is a total pleasure to use it.

My style is eclectic. My house was built 1900. It’s a Federal/Victorian. My house also is not minimalist by any means! I love books. I crochet doilies, hats,mittens. I have beautiful plates above every window and doorway in my kitchen. Norman Rockwell plate collection’s on my dining room walls a wall pocket over flowing with silk flowers. Living plants in several area’s. Basket’s. I was given a small line of very old style school desks! Oil lamps, I love them all! Old jars, bottles. My goodness such loveliness.

How very interesting to see your English/American style room so full of beautiful things. I can identify with some of them as I am English with a Dutch mother. I have quite a few pieces of very dark furniture in my own home because I like the Tudor style of furniture - reproduction. I think the Dutch Delft ware - blue and white - goes very well on the dark furniture. I have some of that, but not a lot now. Thank you for sharing your lovely home :)

Yes, it is very dark, also contemporary English style is certainly a great deal more minimalistic. An important focus of English or indeed Irish home - style has always been the fireplace, though with more options for heating many homes now have an additional source of heat such as oil fuelled central heating combined with an electric, gas or coal fire or perhaps a wood burning stove.. Thank you for the guided tour. The woven rug and the comfy seats are my favourite aspects. God bless, v

I bought 4 quilts exactly alike. For a while I had them on the beds in each room. One side is yellow and the other is pastel green on one side and cream with coral chintz look with tiny rose buds. Now these quilts are on the couch and large barrel chair that are covered in brocade silk from 1970. The furniture is carved and maybe older than the Civil War. No plopping on furniture in my room! I like how you decorate!

I love your videos. Not everything needs to be short and sweet. This was slow and sensuous and detailed and I loved it.

I love it. It's really cosy. Love how the colours blend together. It's cottage like. Comforting.

You’re an inspiration I’m 74 and I haven’t dried flowers in years so I went out and cut flowers today because I watched your video. We have a lot of things in common I’m not as crafty as you are but I have the same couch that you do I’ve had it for years and I love it.you have a blessed year

Love-love your video and your beautiful room. Thanks for taking the time to show in detail! I would love to see an explanation of the wall stencil and the doll house making, especially the mouse house. Thanks again

When I made the Mouse house, I journaled the entire thing on my blog; Hopalong Hollow Gazette, starting here: hopalonghollowgazette.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-building-of-cunning-cottagefor-mouse.html You can follow the posts along to see how I built it. I also have an entire video about stenciling, see the video Stenciling the garden room.

Such a wonderfully cozy room. Perfect couch for curling up with a blanket and a good book! I love the English style of decorating, but I don't enjoy dusting everything. Thank you for opening up your home to us. Take care my friend - Marcie

Marcie, I do tend to let the dust gather... I'm not very fastidious about that. But that couch is SO comfortable.
