Hope in Welch, WV

Once a booming coal mine town referred to by many as "Little New York City", Welch, West Virginia has become a memory tucked away in the mountains. Despite the struggles of addiction and economical hardships, there is a beacon of hope at the center of this community in the form of Nain Community Church.

Just bought my house there along with another a little bit away.Also will move my business there as most will learn in the near future that those mountains are safe from all the climate change weather disasters

Do you know about the mission located in the old HS called McDowell Missions? Our church helps sponsor it. The director is Jay Wilson. They do an awesome job with helping the Welch area.

lol.. Iaeger native myself, atheist too. Wishful thinking dude, until you find big investors. Don’t depend on coal mining, there’s no future , if so it will go robotic. Raised in a coal mining family, dad would say “if they’d make safety rules for mining, they’ll all close.” They did. Besides, most young folk won’t work jobs. Good luck

Always calling on others to bring in money, no desire to start anything yourself!! If people their wants good change, the time to get off the couch and put a foot down was calling 50 years ago. Guess the couch was too comfy!

It still has life. Maybe not close to what it once was, but the people is still the same. It’s a very friendly town.
