Dearest Father Mike, I am a retired mental health professional. I struggle with constant pain due to allergies with almost every pain medication available. My back was broken due to being hit from behind while stopped for a school bus. 5 surgeries later, lots of steel rods and titanium, and I hurt. The most profound words I heard were dealing with the difficulty of opening my eyes in the morning and forcing myself out of bed. May not sound like much to others, but you hit it spot on: it's a victory! You are a blessing and fill us all with tremendous amounts of courage.

I hadn't been to confession for half a year and was battling hopelessness. It had gotten so bad that my physical health was massively declining and I was losing all the strength in my body. If that is the case then I'll share that I'm a former atheist and former protestant. What helped me was a couple of years ago, Fr Mike gave a challenge in one of his homilies to spend 29 minutes before the Blessed Sacrament for 29 days. This was before Christmas. It's been my prayer to speak to someone that can help me with my discernment. I am a seminarian on regency (seminary break) due to being diagnosed with severe depression, though there's been progress and I am grateful. I'd like to think that I have grown spiritual connection. Renewed my Consecration to St. Joseph and daily Rosary helped big-time. Only that I have no one to speak when I have my episodes. But I continue to bring everything into prayer. My son is a seminarian, and I know it is busy and demanding. Satan loves to attack those who serve our Lord. My son became depressed and anxious, and he stayed in seminary. They paid for his therapy with a Catholic psychologist. He has been seeing her almost a year and continues to. She has helped him tremendously, and he is doing and feeling better than he ever has. His work in seminary is great now, and he draws ever closer to God. Please see if your diocese will refer you to someone who can help. I had sessions with him around 5 times po I think. But after that I haven't heard from him anymore. But I understand they are busy. I just wait to hear from him again. I also love to remind myself with St. Therese's words, "Everything is grace." It is grace that while I think I am without a professional assistance while taking the process of healing I spend time knowing myself more in silence through prayers. Each day I am most excited to go back to formation, but I bring it to prayer and entrust to God.

Everyday, I and my mother pray our daily Rosary, daily reading of the gospel, watch inspiring videos and movies of Saints, and I have renewed my 33-day Consecration to St. Joseph the reason I joined the seminary. But yes maam, to be honest I am frustrated, I feel treated less, and would pity myself each time I think of being left in this time or crisis. But God sees us and hears us. I would like to see the grace in this as I am left by myself navigating this part of my journey. I have my episodes of anxiety and worry, but God is Merciful. The tears I shed, essential to grow the seeds sown in me. I pray that I am watering it right so goodness will be its fruit. I am most grateful exchanging words with you maam. I am emotional at this time, but this is happy feeling.

A prodigal son here, I spent 25 years away from my church, I came back three years ago and struggle deeply with habitual sin. I have edged on despair too long, but I am finally seeing light once again, here’s my recommendation. We are in Mortal Combat for our souls, and this is why we cannot afford despair, the things that persisted in and made all the difference. Go to confession regularly, do not receive the Eucharist unless you should be, build a regiment of prayer throughout the day, know that the Lord is closer to you than you are yourself and invite Him into all you do as often as you can. Learn to hate your sin, know the reasons for why it is so detestable, and remember that we are called to pick up our crosses and follow after Him. Unite your suffering too Christ, truly offer it to him.

Our true country is Heaven, which is a much better place than anything on Earth. But while we are here, we are sharing our earthly countries with faithless people. Jesus said that we need to be as a light on a stand, shining in the darkness. If we display hope, worldly people will notice how different it is to live as children of God. A lot of them suffered emotionally from 2016 election, and we should be exact opposite of that. And why wouldn't we? Jesus said: " I have overcome the world"

These passed days a thought about faith came to me. That faith is the ability to be satisfied in your poverty/lack. To be able to believe wholeheartedly that in the state of need you have enough to go on. It is enough, it is sufficient because God can make things whole from nothing. I have had severe depression and anxiety for a few years now on and off. I have always believed having come from an Irish catholic background. At my lowest I felt a calling to god/ Jesus which I can’t truly describe. I now listen to Father Mikes bible in a year every day and pray most days which I have found have helped me on my journey through mental struggles. Not everyone gets it but it has definitely helped me. I wouldn’t have it any other way now. Therapy helps but going to my local church and having a group meeting with my priest father Henry and 5-6 other Catholic believers has helped me massively. God bless ✝️

God is always there for me and knowing that is what gets me through all my suffering. Im so grateful for my Lord

This prayer greatly helped me: Eternal, Holy God, I come to You burdened with worries, fears, doubts and troubles. Calm and quiet me with peace of mind. Empty me of the anxiety that disturbs me, of the concerns that weary my spirit, and weigh heavy on my heart. Loosen my grip on the disappointments and grievances I hold on to so tightly. Release me from the pain of past hurts, of present anger and tension, of future fears. Sometimes it's too much for me Lord, too many demands and problems, too much sadness, suffering, and stress. Renew me spiritually and emotionally. Give me new strength, hope, and confidence. Prepare me to meet the constant struggles of daily life with a deeper faith and trust in You. Let your love set me free, for peace, for joy, for grace, for life, for others, forever.

Praised be Jesus in His Divine Mercy .... I disclosed my miseries including suicidal thoughts in confession and a few days later I was happy again and able to feel love, pray and abide in Our Lord Jesus again. I suggest that miracles happen in confession and Jesus washes away our troubles through His sacrament of reconciliation and His Limitless Divine Mercy. Lets pray for each other and others who are suffering from depression and other forms of psychological issues. God bless everyone!!

You hit the nail on the head when you “nothing I do will ever make a difference.” It’s hard, if not impossible, to put my trust in a being that has shown no concern for me whatsoever. I want to believe that God hears me when I pray, but I’ve seen nothing to give me any hope that that is the case. I want to come back to church, but any prayer I say will be empty words, and it will probably hurt me more in the long run by saying words with no real meaning behind them.

I’m in the same hole everyday: hopeless times, fear of future, people achieving things and I need to be happy for them. But where is my time? I know I know : be patient & Gods time etc. I get that part but I’ve done good things for others and I trust in God but people are going fast in life! I've gone to four grief share programs, liked them a lot, but I'm just so sad, it never stops. If I have something to look forward to, I'm better. It's so lonely without him. I got really close to my Church, but the last few weeks fell away a bit.
