Yes. God bless this man! I have been a pastor for 52 years until today. We need more ministers like him! He can run and speak at the same time, but people can still understand what he says. This was by far the best explanation of the sermon on the mount that I have ever heard. I have been struggling and telling God I can never make it cause I keep messing up, I'm so imperfect and getting panicky cause I'm not without spot or wrinkle. The church teaches if your not perfect before Christ comes well brother too bad cause your lost. Thank you and thank Jesus that you taught this sermon message! This is what's missing in church! He says blessed are the poor in spirit who mourn that condition which gives an attitude of meekness and then we hunger & thirst for righteousness realizing we are the undeserving recipients of God’s mercy! Long comment but honest questions. This might come off as antagonistic. It's not. Just looking for answers. Since the lesson fairly well began with the question of "Where in the text does it say that?", and is followed up by a claim that he only wants to teach the Bible, not something else, why does he then: -teach out of another human's commentary? -cite the beliefs of most scholars? -change his preaching regarding Jesus' age at the beginning of His ministry from 30 (the Biblical age given) to 28, but somehow still claim that 12+20 is 28? Following in context of his lesson, where does Scripture say: -Jesus saw a sacrificial lamb for the first time at 12? -That instance was where He knew He was the ultimate Lamb? -Anything regarding a divine sabbath? -Anyone who is going to preach, regardless of calling or experience, should be terrified every time? -Jesus spent the entire time from age 12 to His ministry beginning in preparation for a single sermon? -Satan watched in terror at the preaching of John the Baptist? -The golden rule is the summary of the law and prophets instead of loving God then loving people? Final question. Why does it seem like he's treating a book other than the Bible as if it's inspired Scripture?

Ellen White is the author you refer to. She was shown by God everything she wrote. Just for us in this time. God always supplies a prophet for His people to come out of apostasy into greater light. Have you read The Great Controversy? I know it’s been a long time since you asked your question. David asks why we use a seven day week and alludes to Moses receiving the ten commandments which indicate to keep the 7th day Holy. (But once again he excludes the Chosen People as the recipient of this knowledge and indicates that it was for all mankind, which eventually it was but I wonder at the scene where Moses turns to Pharaoh and says "You know that string of days that you have my People working as your slaves without rest around the clock? Well tell your god that G-d says to break that down to a 7 day unit and make sure one of those days is for rest. Got it, Phar?" I wonder why the Jews use the Moon rather than the Sun for their 360 day year. Could it be because every 28 days (or 4 sevens) we get a new moon? No David, there IS a celestial body that supports a 7 day week, but remember, that also was a creation of G-d! Why G-d chose the Jewish People to bring all this to the world? Once again your need for replacement theology seems to be blinding you.

I have a problem with the example given, where the people shocked the person who got the answers wrong; saying that everyone of them continued to press the button, even after the recipient begged them not to. This tells me that the Professor (or "Shrink") chose people who had no moral conscience. History is full of examples of people who jump into a crowd to protect someone else. People who have jump in front of on coming danger, in order to save another's life.

I don't believe that you are looking at it from the right perspective. Man was created by God to be a creature of reason and that quality exists even in those people who are unsaved. God gives freely to all of us. The only reason nonbelievers can love is because God graciously gives all of us, even them, that ability. So to act like everything that comes out of a nonbeliever's mouth is stupid is actually denying the nature of man as made in the image of God. I have known nonbelievers that have had very gifted insights into the world, society, and life and even they acquired that understanding from God (though they themselves may not know it). You don't need to be so closed to what other people have to say, you just need to compare everything with what the Scriptures say. If someone says something that you deem to be revolutionary and it doesn't contradict the Bible (in many cases such things can even affirm the truth of the Bible) then you can call that wisdom. Martin Luther King, Jr., a thunderous man of God, was inspired by Ghandi and his methods of protest (which were not contradictory to Biblical teachings) and there is nothing wrong with that. That's what I have learned. Take it for what you will.
