It's very strange to know that when John the Baptist came, the people suggested if he was the Messiah and yet when Jesus was there amongst them they didn't accept him even after He did SO MANY MANY miracles and wonders . They were something else

Wtinessing. I wonder why the people didn't believe Jesus even when they witnessed mighty miracles performed by Jesus to indicate that He is the Son of God. This indicate how people were at that time were looking for someone to free them from Roman's power and not someone to free us from sin in this sinful world. I rather free from sin and have a place in heaven than a temporarily freedom from human rulership. I thank Jesus for the gift of eternal life the greatesf gift of all to human beings. John's sermon as recorded in Luke is informative. Today, we might wonder what he was talking about until he came to the practical application in the lives of the various classes of people. I believe John was actually quoting from the Old Testament.

Why is the response of Jesus to Nicodemus so lengthy? I think it's because we are mistakenly including some of John's own inspired commentary in Jesus' words. Some of those comments would have been so inappropriate in that context! So I'm with those scholars who end the quotation with verse 15, not verse 21.

Going back to what was said by God or in the word of God, that there is no greater a prophet than John the Baptist. This clearly proves to some who consider Jesus as a prophet of God, it is clearly stated in the words of God, that there is no greater a prophet than John the Baptist! And it goes even further to make it specifically clear where He also says- of women. Luke 7:28 Amen

Art thou a leading teacher in the Sanhedrin and don't know the most basic thing in the salvation plan: Ye must be born again?! CONVERSION is the the essential first step in the salvan plan. SANCTIFICATION or GROWTH in holiness must follow for without holiness no one can see the Lord, which is the final step-GLORIFICATION-being in Heaven with the Godhead. (See Hebrews 12:14)

Why a lengthy conversation with Nicodemus? First of all Nicodemus came to Jesus to have a conversation. They have the length of the night. Second, Nicodemus will latter become one of the pillars of the early church and will likewise suffer persecution. Jesus is preparing him. Third, Nicodemus have only that night of conversation with Jesus. Jesus also converses with other people or disciples lengthily, and John had not written them because it can all be contained on all of the books during that time.
