Hopkins Baseball Loses in Gopher Classic

The Hopkins American Legion baseball team lost its final pool play game of the Gopher Classic tournament Sunday, missing out on a chance to advance to Monday’s bracket play. The Flyers lost 13-0 in five innings to Bemidji. Both teams had gone 4-0 in pool play heading into the game, but Bemidji scored seven runs in the top of the second inning to put the game out of reach early and added two more runs in the third and four in the fifth. The 96-team tournament was trimmed to 16 by the end of Sunday’s pool play. Hopkins is now 10-10 this summer.
