Hopping around on the rocks to catch reef fish! Exploring Fishing grounds!

Protea Rock and Surf Angler Raldu Potgieter invited me along to fish a pristine coastline with him. The aim was to explore the area and find some reefs that hold some epic reef fish. We were faced with a very flat and clean sea.
We hopped around on the reefs to find suitable fishing grounds. Finding and exploring new water is probably the most exciting part of fishing for me.

When looking for Gallie: If I am on the rocks and I and trying to read the waves, I mustn’t cast where the waves are breaking. I must rather cast on the waves that does doesn’t form white water? Am I right? The theory is where the waves form without breaking is where there is a bit more depth right?

Good day just pd to be a full member Just asking your clothing ..one jackets caps. Etc do you have a web page to order . 66 years old being fishing since a 3 year old love rock and serf Always fished with Penn reels ..coffee grinders were not as popular as in the past . Basically only used them on KY cabin boat on tidle rivers in SA etc .. Grew uo in Port Saint John's.. my uncle had the old Cape Hermies .. Wow those days were out of thos world Nice to be a member ..

Xander why is your reel making that noise? My Metaloid MS-90s is making the same noise... I thought it's because I serviced it too much😂but now I hear yours making the same sound when you reel in.

I need to replace my bearing in the line roller then it will be quiet again. Coincidentally got new bearings today.

@@zoolookfishing Cool..even off rocks into rough ground? What bs braid do you use and do you use leader? I noticed the fixed spool in the low position. I tried this and a fixed spool feels better even when casting. Easier to hold rather than gripping a big multiplier

@@gavinlangford2984 yeah i Use braid in the rough terrain and I use a braided leader of about 7m. All depends on what I am targeting, braid will range from 30lb to 80lb and the braid leader from 80lb to 220lb

@@zoolookfishing Nice. I am targeting tope a smaller shark speices around the UK. I wa sthinking of using 60lb braid and a mono leader around 80lb as their skin can rip through braid..Have you had this isuue with sharks?
