In this fly tying tutorial Cheech ties the Hoptimus Prime
This is a pattern that I have seen for over 20 years on old online forums in Utah. Robert Williamson is the guy who came up with this bug, and I figured I’d bring it back into my tying arsenal and give it a try. Through playing with some different techniques, I found a way to add taper into the back of the fly, and I substituted synthetics for the wing. I tie a basic one and a more complicated one with more bells and whistles called the Hoptimus Prime. Once you get the technique down it’s a very simple fly that floats high and is very durable. Tie them in different sizes and colors to match your local bugs!

Here's another method for getting the rubber legs through the foam: jam your bobbin threader through the foam and catch the rubber legs on the other side like you would thread. The advantages are twofold: speed/simplicity, you can control the angle the rubber legs project from. Try it out!

Gonna ask as a guy with not much experience with poppers like these, do you need floatant? It surely seems like enough foam for it to not need it, lol!!
