Beautiful! This was one of my favorite pieces in the Sacred Concert my church choir from St. Paul's Cathedral in Boston sang in the summer of '73. An overlooked gem by an underappreciated master. Thanks for posting!

Still very unappreciated. He composed a considerable amount of music which has fallen into obscurity, and I'm afraid it may in part be because the critics who praised Charles Ives (his student) used Parker as a foil of sorts belittling his compositions and style in order to spotlight Ives as a reactionary to his old teacher's guidance which was painted as pedantic. In truth, what a wonderful composer Parker is who along with much of his church music has left a body of moving orchestral and instrumental pieces which hold their own among the many works of his peers, those who are also relegated to the forgotten generation of America's composers.
