Horde Class Guide - Anchor (Gears 5)

As someone who's loved using a Boltok since Gears 1, this is my class. Though I tend to use the shield less often than I should (mainly oh shiz situations, or to get risky revives) but ammo regen takes so much pressure off you in the match. Love this class.

Another great guide, thanks. The only thing I would say is that boltok bandalier isn't really neccessary. Perking ammo regen to level 3 nearly guarantees a full chamber each wave without it and obviously higher perks will help midwave. Looking forward to the escape video!

That has been my experience as well, i was rocking the extra ammo for a while but was always capped off with just a few levels of Ammo Regen

I use Bloody Shot, Crazy Tough, Bullet Chain, Lethal Barrier, and Barrier Feedback. I upgrade my ammo regeneration to 3 as soon as possible, then I put it into overall damage and critical damage. Then, if I'm getting hurt a lot, I'll put points into damage resistance. If I'm doing fine, I'll put points into ammo regeneration instead. I like to have my main weapons as the Longshot and Scorcher, although I'll still mainly use the Boltok.

if you're doing horde never waste a card slot with boltok bandolier after a few perks on ammo regeneration it makes that card completely useless . i think crazy tough is a good card i haven't tried using this class in a while though so i'm not sure how well that holds up in master

I power leveled the Anchor this week after seeing your tier video. I was lucky we have 300% XP boost the entire week. Was able to max this bad boy out in just over two days. Man this guy is insane. Like dude wtf. Of me writing this comment I am rocking - Bullet chain (Level 4) -Barrier Feedback (Level 4) -Barrier Battery (Level 6) -Boltok Bandolier (Level 6) -Bloody Shot (Level 6) and let me tell you that is busted. If I activate my shield and just get two or three headshots in a row the bleed damage is absurd. Especially against boss enemies. That is crazy. What I love about this class is the Anchor is a strong and independent class and don't need no stinky teammates. Like seriously. This guy is so self reliant and doesn't need any help. I can even carry entire groups through inconceivable at this point. Like they could be AI's for all I care at this point. Yes some other classes do more damage but they all rely on a setup. The Anchor just doesn't give a fuck.

My cards are 1. Barrier Feedback 2. Bullet Chain 3. Barrier Battery 4. Harness Energy 5. Bloody Shot Only thing I dont like about anchor is the fact that the barrier doesn't automatically deal damage to melee enemies instead its a card which to makes no sense but thats it this class is so broken that i dont even need to explain my build its that simple and straight forward

This class is the best one in the game imo. Best perks-Base damage, Crit damage, Ammo regen Amazing skill cards- bloody boltok, increase barrier size, increased barrier duration, lethal barrier. You can drop boss by standing in them while also dealing bleeding damage. Plus if you're playing on higher difficultly which usually means longer rounds, you can use your barrier 2-3 times a round. This class is stupid strong when compared to every other class.... Like a tactician or demolition expert will have a hard time keeping up with the simple but pure dpm the anchor can do. Also the skill cards, a lot of the green ones are actually usable and cheap to upgrade... Mainly talking about bloody boltok.

Would have to agree with pretty much all of your points, the Anchor is busted, and I think I ranked it S tier when I did my tier list. Most mutators become meaningless when the Anchor is in the game

@@hollowstrife8220 indeed it is. Played with my friend while he played tactician, using ult cool down skill cards. With eagle eyes, situational awareness, and recharge bounty. I was running the skills cards I mentioned in the comments, we push the usages of the barrier upwards to 4 sometimes 5 times a round. Marked targets and damage recharged the anchors barrier about double than normal. Mind you we played frenzy so it might be more difficult to do in 50 horde. Good times though as the tactician can use gl, boom, and torque to keep up in dpm with bleed. Theron guards leave them around everywhere.

This is the best all around class imo. Great blend of damage and tankiness, and the ammo regen perk means you don't even need lockers or ammo boxes. It's good in every mode, every map, every situation. It's great in escape too. Level this up first before anything.

I agree. It's incredibly versatile and mixes well with almost every other class. Also allows you to give away the Markza/Retro right at the beginning for other classes who need it more

@@KkKk-ci9ih Demo takes awhile to get set up. He needs a lvl 4 locker and perks. So while ultimately he is the best he needs some help. The anchor starts off strong and just gets better. Very survivable. Needs very little. Can play alone or buff his teammates.

Great vid Hollow. I’ve been trying something different with the Anchor. Using this class more offensively as an Infiltrator. With Lethal Barrier as the key, I equip a shotty and Boltok and run and gun some CQC. Crazy Tough for some survive ability. Barrier Battery, Bullet Chain and finally (Bloody Shot, Barrier Feedback or Harness Energy). Just be careful around Cyclops and their nasty chainsaws.

This dude plays Anchor the complete opposite of how I play this class. I go in all hyper aggressive with damage resistance, barrier damage and gnasher.

You go hyper aggressive even on inconceivable or master? If it works it works. I personally prefer the infiltrator if I want to run in with a shotgun, but more power to you dude

Idk if I’m playing the anchor wrong but I swear I can’t do shit when I’m this class. I’m level 18 with the anchor right now and just feel like I don’t kill anything. I definitely support and do damage but rarely get kills in later waves on harder difficulties

Are you using the damage build I recommend in this video? I do notice when playing the anchor myself that I may not get many kills, but spreading your bleed around and using your Barrier as often as you can, you will keep up with some assault classes damage output. Personally, as long as your damage numbers are good, don't worry about getting that last hit on enemies to claim the kill 👍

@@atodasolahey1952 Yeah a few months back and shortly after making this comment I just leveled my anchor up just enough to really be able to let loose with it. It’s become one of my go to classes when I just need to cut the 💩 and pull out a win / carry some people lol
