in a case like this where you want a stiffer joystick but not too stiff then take the old spring out and just pull on it a little but make sure you pull on it evenly and that should do the trick
@ZaphodBeeblebrox427 жыл бұрын
not sure why you pulled the entire joystick out, all you needed to do was pop off the c-clip, swap springs, install c-clip and you are done.

it seems way easier to leave everything in place, but as a modding real noob I've seen the steps more clearly.

I took my joystick apart and a few parts fell out, and unfortunately I don't know which order the parts go in. they were the parts that the spring is supposed to go on top of.

Your Hori Hayabusa arcade stick controller is not a "Version 5". The letter "V" is short for the Vewlix (Pronounced "View-licks") arcade button layout.

Hi the two sides of the spring are equals? Do you recommend Kowal oversize actuator to Hori Hayabusa. I want to put Kowal octogate+ 2lb Spring Sanwa+Kowal oversize actuactor
@beverlyhillbilly79142 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. So this was years ago, but I still use this stick regularly and no mod has failed (except 2 hyyabusa silent buttons from years of what I would call extreme abuse. I am a lot rougher on my stick than i should be). From what I remember the spring rate is equal through the coils, so there is no 'right side up'. I never got the oversized actuators, but I considered them. The heavier spring was a personal choice, but the factory spring felt overwhelmed by the aluminum ball top. I installed a Kowal octogate shortly after the spring and have left it on since. I really enjoyed the middle ground it provided. It feels like how it looks, right in between a square and a circle. For me, that was exactly what i was looking for, but its definitely not for everyone. I was looking to make motion inputs feel more fluid while still having 8 distinct corners for accuracy. I still suck but it did make motion inputs feel a way I was happier with. This will all come down to personal preference, and what it is you are looking for with modifying a stick. Do keep in mind that no mod by itself is going to make you a better player (I wished for that when i first started playing in the genre). The heavier spring is going to give a much more positive feedback than the 1lb factory one that floats through the gate. The oversized actuators will pick up an input faster and you won't have to move the stick as much, but some have complained that they make players prone to fudging the inputs by accidently hitting the wrong actuator. The blue ball top still looks cool and I really enjoy the extra weight, but some would not. The silent buttons give absolutely no feedback to being pressed besides bottoming out, but my personal situation required quieter gaming sessions and I ended up enjoying their airy feeling. Every mod I have done to my stick is still on my stick 6 years later because I enjoy them and they still work like new. (besides those 2 buttons but they go through a lot and are most likely to fail first on a stick) Half the joy was using the mods, and the other half was taking a fightstick and modifying it with things i thought were better. I hope this long rant answered your questions.

I feel the same square is not for me and the spring factory hayabusa is too weak. Yes with oversize actuator sometimes hits some very hard but is not a fault, the hori edge buttons are very weak but working fine but feels so soft and i don´t like this feel I like joystick like Eurojoystick or Magstick that i put in wood arcade stick.

Hello whats the best mod for hori hayabusa joystick, i can just replace the spring to 2lbs and octagobal gate or i need also add the KOWAL 1mm Oversize Actuator ?

You CAN NOT use the Kowal actuator without the Kowal Octopus octagonal restrictor plate installed, as it wont clear the stock plate’s inner lip. I replaced the actuator and plate, but left the stock spring.

Hey not sure what you meant when talking about removing the balltop. do i not unscrew the top part(were the flathead goes) or am i just only trying to unscrew the balltop? it seems like the balltop is barely if at all coming loose am i doing something wrong?
@beverlyhillbilly79147 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming that you have the original balltop on. That's ok, they are really tight from the factory. Here is the reason why you unscrew the balltop itself instead of the screwdriver: Inside the joystick is the actuator and all the fragile stuff sits. Turning the shaft instead of the balltop would put unnecessary wear on those parts.

What is the name of the spring model you're using? Can I just replace it with any type of spring or does it have to be a specific one for this stick?
@beverlyhillbilly79147 жыл бұрын
VeNOM3099 So this is what I have been told and have read: Most any mod that you can do to a Sanwa JLF stick, you can do to a Hayabusa stick. When I ordered this spring from Focus Attack, I was told that any spring that would fit the JLF would also fit the Hayabusa

more force needed to push joystick and quicker neutral. A 2lb works great

i got the 2 pound spring and i got a 4 pound spring in the mail which feels better?
@beverlyhillbilly79146 жыл бұрын
this decision is 100% personal preference. there isn't any advantage in picking one over the other. the 4 lbs. spring (would like to try out) is going to be quite heavy, but you may prefer the extra feel from moving the stick. try them both out. hopefully this video helps you install whichever spring you try out.
@andrewilliams21396 жыл бұрын
I can give you a update the 4 pound spring makes the stick almost quite and you dont get that click that lets you know you made the correct movement. It takes away the feel of the movement and the sound. I think i will put the 2 pound spring back in because you got a stiffer stick but you also keep the audio cue and you can still feel the switch so you know you did your movement correctly. At this point i like the stiffness of the 4 pound switch but i dont like it at all that i can no longer feel or hear the switches.

Somebody can help me? Does Hori RAP V for Xbox has the same components inside? As I saw in the comments bellow, I'm able to use Sanwa components, are you using the original actuator? Could I use some Sanwa actuators?
@beverlyhillbilly79147 жыл бұрын
Tiago Carvalho the RAP V for XBox will be exactly the same as my stick. I am still using the original joystick, which is the Hayabusa. But yes, Sanwa parts like the JLF joystick and buttons will fit in the RAP V

I have the hori rap pro n hayabusa. I didn't like hayabusa joystick because it's too loose so I bought a semitsu joystick from arcadeshock (see link). They recommend me the seimitsu-ls-05-06-as which not only comes with the joystick but five different springs and I did buy it. The thing is the seimitsu is already a stiff joystick. Will I be needing those five different springs, because I like my joysticks stiff like korean battops, and this is my first time modding an arcade stick, I don't want to mess up. arcadeshock.com/collections/joysticks/products/seimitsu-ls-56-01-as-multi-tension-joystick

those clips can be difficult to get out without damaging them if you haven't really dealt with them before. if you dont have a pocket screwdriver, eyeglass screwdrivers and small knives can also work (of course be careful). prying from the middle of the 'C' is the best way to get them out
