Summarized why I dont really like Hori in two lines. Well, to be more specific, I dont like how Horimiya is touted as a depiction of this super healthy relationship when Hori acts really, really bad sometimes. Dare I say even abusive. Warning, a bit of a rant coming up. I do still like the show, but I really dislike how it is exalted as this show that's just sooo much better than all of those "male fantasy" shows with mellow female characters when Hori essentially gets to be abusive while Miyamura is a completely reasonable partner that just takes it. Like here, instead of apologizing for physically hurting him, she guilts him into giving her sympathy, which, of course, being the good person that he is, he does. Should he have had to have done that? This isnt the only time she has been abusive towards him. She threw books in his face while he was wearing glasses because she got jealous that he talked to another girl. She threatens and forces him into acting out her fetish in public, which not only makes him uncomfortable but can also make him look like an abuser himself. Horimiya is good, but it's certainly not a more "healthy" depiction of a relationship. Not even more than your lazy, run of the mill harem fantasy. At least in those, the guy is super mellow and the girls usually are, too. This is more of a female-centric fantasy of a romance, with an almost perfect guy and a girl who "changes" him and gets to act unreasonable with him while he takes it and comforts her when she inevitably starts to pity herself.

Ngl the ppl in this comment section gotta understand that shit like jelousy in a relationship can be different for everyone. In some relationships hori's treatment lf miyamura can be deal breakers and you could view it as unfair. But for others it can simply be a tiny thing to go through in their relationship. Even then in a lot of cases if the girl or guy in this case were like hori, if they actually cared about their partner (as hori does) they would feel guilty about it and maybe even try to get over it (as hori does). Simply put not all relationships are as simple as i love you a fuck ton or i hate you a fuck ton. Fuck me my autocorrect just dissapeared and made this such a pain in the ass to type.
