I’ll be honest had I waited a few days to do my “10 best movies of 2024 so far “ list Horizon probably would have been in my 9th or 10th spot.

I followed the stories just fine. The writing was solid. The acting was great. The pace was fantastic. All 3 hours flew by. In fact, i hope theres a longer directors cut to get more of that authentic feeling.

I really enjoyed the movie. The pacing, acting, and scenery were all awesome I thought. The 3 hours went by fast for me. Also, Costner pulled no punches on the hardship and brutality of the time. I can't wait for part 2.

Then this gets put on streaming it will 100% be a big hit. Especially cause the length. Both one and two when on streaming could be big hits not just for the western fans and boomers but the youth that played red dead 2. Has that feel.

If you don’t see this movie you will regret it. Never bet that these movies won’t bring westerns back to cinema. He is a creative genius and meticulous director film maker and people should give him a break.

One thing I admire about Costner is for being such a mainstream actor, he takes a lot of really big creative choices as a director. He really does respect the craft of filmmaking

In Costner interview he said this is about how hard the life was and what people of these years had to fight to live ! and chapter 1 delivers .

I'm 100% behind this statement. It's refreshing to go to a movie and not feel like I just had IQ points sucked out of my head. I scratch my head that people cannot follow these storylines and find it confusing. I guess I shouldn't be surprised in the age of TikTok that many people are unable to focus longer than a few minutes at a time.

This movie was horrible. I heard the bad reviews but wasn’t worried because of the reasons the critics didn’t like it. I was super okay with it not having any resolution to the story lines. I mean part 2 will be out in a month. I was looking forward to seeing stories develop. I was not prepared for disliking it for the reasons I did. The critics picked on the wrong things in the film.

I watched it yesterday, as I paid attention to the fact it was the first of 3-4 movies , so I understand that the movie I saw was not a standalone movie. As that I thought it was a very great movie but can understand why some folks might be a little bit put off . Its a 8 out of 10 IMHO.

In fairness, I would argue that since he’s largely self financing these movies there is certainly a huge risk in this movie for him both personally and professionally. But I understand what you mean, he’s established his legacy and foothold in American cinema, regardless if this film does well or not

I thought this movie was an excellent set up. Three hours whisked by and I'm all in for part 2. I don't know how many times Kevin has supposedly committed "career suicide" but I'm all in for an original movie; not a sequel, not a superhero or trash content typical garbage H-wood has been putting out the last several years.

Here’s the thing about Costner. He more often then not has bet on himself and comes out victorious more times then not. He deserves a lot of credit for it, and Horizon is just another example that signifies how cool of a movie star Costner is.
