Vocalist of Horizon Ignited here! How are you guys doing? So, a little background info (because we're dumb and didn't give it beforehand). The band was put together in 2017 in Kouvola, Finland, and the final line-up coming together in early 2018. We take influences mostly in melodic death metal and metalcore, so yeah, it's gonna sound like that too. First and foremost, we make music that we enjoy, as it is a way to express ourselves, but as we released our debut album, we thought that "Yeah, why not try to get some exposure too?". For the video; we had no budget at all, so we just put together some "behind-the-scenes"-type of thing. It works fine as it is 😀 And for the lack of lyrics; point taken 😂 Thank you so much for this! @@okkosolantera1387 honestly, I think that melodic death metal hasn't been the greatest the past few years... but then i just heard you guys on this video! I love your guys' sound, definitely has that old school melodeath style but you guys make it your own, and have enough new stuff to make it fun and keep it interesting! Consider me a fan. I was listening to this and thinking "Well, I guess these guys like scandinavian Melodeath and Metalcore"... then I googled and eventually found out they're finnish, so no surprise there. That was pretty decent, but 10+ years ago, those genres were all I was listening, Melodeath, from DT and Insomnium and Soilwork, to Scar Symmetry or Disarmonia Mundi and some Metalcore like All That Remains (their 2006 album, all downhill from there)... my point being, I can't help but feel "I've heard all of this before", so I can't really get excited about it. And on that note, can't believe no one has convinced you to react to Dark Tranquillity yet, the most consistent band amongst the pioneers of swedish melodeath, still putting out good albums all these years later (unlike In Flames who you've reacted to like 3 times). Or if you want some melodeath "for Sori", I bet she'd love Scar Symmetry, something like "The illusionist".

Even though Horizon Ignited's "Equal in Death" doesn't bring anything new or groundbreaking to melodic/metalcore death metal genre, and to be fair, a band doesn't always have to bring something new to the table to be good. This is just some flat out good metal in my book. I enjoyed the song @Okko Solanterä ; so, plus one for me. Liked the sound and the production on this also.

I agree on the clash between the maturity of the song and the...lack thereof...in terms of the video itself. But I enjoyed the song. I often want something more than verse-chorus-verse as well, but every now and then it's just right. Not great or amazing, but good. That's how I would categorize this one. By the way, you might want to add the band name into the video title so they get more exposure. :)

Solid song. Wouldn’t have minded some tempo changes as it stayed pretty locked in to one pace. It’s tough to stand out in such a prevalent sub genre like melodic death metal. The vocals stood out for me the most. The deeper growls aren’t used as much in melodeath so that helped with a standout aspect to the song.

Imagine being the person that wrote these riffs and was like "Yeah...this sounds exactly like what In Flames would do". Their song force fed apathy, also a few more excellent suggestions of mine are berried alive, spelled like berry, it's a great instrumental progressive experimental band of a guy on guitar and his wife on bass, also rings of saturn, and especially ANIMALS AS LEADERS, other then thy art is murder, they're one of my favorites of the time, king diamond- sleepless nights is a great song of his, that's five suggestions of mine that I think you guys would really dig and get a kick out of

It’s time you reviewed a second QUEENSRYCHE song. You loved ‘Eyes Of A Stranger’ last year. I recommend ‘Silent Lucidity’ their biggest hit. It went Top 10 in 91 and was nominated for Grammys and AMAs and nominated for 5 MTV Video awards, winning one, beating R.E.M.s Losing My Religion in the Viewers Choice category. It is a beautifully lush ballad with strings by Michael Kamen of Metallica fame as well as many film scores. You will love it so much I think. Video is great too. Please use the studio version or official video version. No good quality live clips. Trust me. Sooo good.

Maybe to change things up, I think you should listen to a band called The Sword. Winters Wolves or Iron Swan are highlights for me.

XBM 79 that’s the best part of the comment section. I have discovered new bands through the comments that I would have never even heard about. I have found great music that way. I’m happy that the comment section goes off script like that. Makes it interesting. Imagine if V&S were to only talk about the lyrics of all their song reactions and never go off script to other topics that end up being great conversations but in the end they circle back around to the lyrics and give their scores. I think sadly you guys have c run out of steam....I really hope I'm wrong, love v you both, been critical, but, isn't that the point???song choices are crucial at your stage now,,,,you have done so many, some bad choices I feel hurt some bands you were really ta I en by. Pearl jam stands out, however, "The Last Kiss " remake, not a good song in its day, and a real low point for tbem.Just aft er you guys were stoked hard by Jeremy!
