Lost count on how many times I've been watching this playlist the last 6 months while waiting for the Cub to be available in EU again. Been applying these advices on other models in the meanwhile.

Hello HH. This “My First ARF” is an awesome series and has been extremely valuable to me. I bought a Hangar 9 Cub 40 ARF kit new and it has been sitting on a shelf in my basement for 10 years. With the current events of today (#stay@home), I have finally found the time and the motivation to start on this project. Watching your videos are so helpful with understanding not just the steps in the manual, but the techniques used. In addition, technology in RC flight has advanced, so now I am building my Cub 40 with an eFlite Power 46 and (why not?) a Spektrum AS3x SAFE receiver. Thanks for the inspiration and virtual help you’ve provided with this Carbon Cub build.

Watching this series with great interest. My first ARF also! Come on, Power 60! It's been ordered....I may be "Covid-ed"!

I like the new series! Should be really good to promote foamy folks into getting into balsa and maybe going bigger. One thing though...I run tundra tires on both my 15cc Carbon cub (great job Ali!!) and my 1/4 scale H9 Super Cub. Full scale Tundra tires absorb a lot and don't really bounce unless you hit crazy hard. The Du bros perform the same way if you run them very low on air. The 5 1/2in I have on my Carbon Cub have no air pretty much...they don't bounce hardy at all and the plane isn't heavy enough to make them look flat. Question for Ali : Any plans for more giant scale CZ planes like the Cessna 150??
@jackdaniels79135 жыл бұрын
Quick tip and question... Tip, use a muffin pan for all your hardware! Question, heating iron use? Dose this model need to have some of the surfaces touched up? And if so how do you do it ? I'm a foamy and have wanted to get in to some of the incredible models out there, but as many of us are probably most afraid of, ironing is daunting especially such a beautiful model!
@horizonhobby5 жыл бұрын
Jack, it will definitely require some ironing. We will highlight the process in an upcoming episode!

I would like to see some depth on cutting the cowl for gas engines (Needle adjustments, glow plug, mufflers). I Mainly want to see how you cut it for the mufflers. Maybe also a explanation/recommendation on airflow for electric motors and gas engines.

I am excited for this series! I have put together a few of your hangar 9 planes and love them. I have As3x receivers in them but have never set them up. I know you have a video I series on how to set up As3x but I would like to see Ali show you how to set it up. I am assuming you haven’t set As3x before. Maybe some tips and tricks in regards to the programming of the receiver. Thanks and keep the videos coming!

We actually plan on doing this! We may bring in someone from the Spektrum team to give us a hand ;).

I’m so weary about getting a balsa plane. So hard to fix if you bang it up. Not that I banged up my foamy’s. It’s the hanger rash from transporting them. But this series might just change my mind. 😬 What a job getting paid to build planes and getting to fly them. 🙃🙃👍🏻👍🏻

This should be fun. :) I have one NIB, trying to decide whether to power it glow or electric. Will that little Power 60 really be enough for this big model? I will be very interested to see how it flies with it.

I get my Carbon Cub 15cc with the 1/5 Scale Float Set in a week. I already have a E-Flight Power 110 Motor on the shelf with a Castle Talon 90 esc. Plan on using 6S-5500mah-70C Lipo's , What do you think of my setup , is it going to be over powered flying off water most of the time? When I do fly off land I plan to get the Dobro Tundra Tires

Great video. Glad I found it. I'm about to build one of these for my adult son. Except I have a spare DLE 20RA.... Do you think I will have any trouble getting it to fit?

Love my 15cc Carbon Cub. Started with an Evo 15 but changed to a Os 120 4 stroke. Makes it a blast to fly and sounds great 😁 only issue ive got is the landing gear. Plastic has broken in the wheel hub and I cant get it off. Not sure what the bloke who put it together did but I'm tempted to try the larger wheels though!

A OS 1.20 4 Stroke in this little plane. Do you have any cowling left? A Cub that flies like a F-16. Come on dude!!!

@scotabot78265 жыл бұрын
@@TAKTEZ No Idea at all. I've only been building ( real building, not arf assembly) scale models for 45 years. I guess I'm a dying breed because I like to power my models so they fly scale like. I have a 1.20 4S in a 108 inch Super Cub at 17 lbs and it so overpowered its silly. I just don't understand the need to put 2 to 3 times the power on a model. Oh well, everyone's been doing it for years and years now, so I guess its a trend that will stay. I also have nothing against nice arf's, as I have assembled around 100 since EZ- Ok model developed theirs in the 1980's. Happy Flying mate!

@@scotabot7826 ill gladly show you a video at some point when I can get one and prove to you this is no powerhouse with this engine. Mate of mine has a scratchbuilt cub around the same size with a saito 80 and its more powerful then my 120 4 stroke. It doesnt hang out the cowl. It flies perfectly scale so I dont really know why you felt the need to comment on what I have done when you havnt even seen it or how it flies. 45 years of flying and that gives you the right to tell others what to do? Keep it to yourself bud 👍 We dont need your advice...

I'm just getting ready to buy my first plane, the carbon cub rtf. I intend to build this one while I learn to fly the beginner. My first question is what does ARF stand for? Sorry for the newbie question. 🍻
@horizonhobby5 жыл бұрын
It stands for "almost ready-to-fly," which is pretty misleading ;).

I have tons of questions does the evolution 15cc come with electronic ignition how well will the auto fg21 fit and does that engine come with ignition? Will there be much difference in sound? Which way will give me more power has or electric and will the gas version stink up the house

Nope, there shouldn't be any restrictions on fuel.
