I’m incredibly psyched to share my music video cover interweaving the main themes to Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West! HZD is one of my favorite games of all time, and anyone who has played it can probably understand why. In this video, we tried to capture the pulsing excitement of the game, Aloy’s passion, and some truly gorgeous environments. Can’t wait for the sequel!
The track was co-arranged and produced by Andrew “zircon” Aversa, based on the incredible writing of composer Joris de Man and vocal performance by Julie Elven. The lyrics are my own, written from Aloy’s perspective. We filmed the video with our amazing director Landon Donoho at some nearby locations in Maryland… including the woods across the street from our house, where we built our campfire. Landon brought along his drone (named Falcor) for some epic aerial shots. It was quite an adventure! :)

Thank you for this video. As a composer/conductor, I love to use vocalists in my music as instruments. You have very clear control of your voice, and in tune. Also, the added reverb in the end for the final mix really highlights the kind of loneliness someone like Aloy might feel. I hope to hear your voice in video games scores, and or film scores.

Now I'm envisioning a team-up between Jillian Aversa, Taylor Davis, Malukah, Lindsey Stirling, and Peter Hollens. Hey, it could happen! Remember Banner Saga? Also, I spend quite a while trying to track Jillian down because the song I had that sparked my interest listed her maiden name, and a good search on that listed almost nothing. I'm so glad I could get some of Jillian's best music on Band Camp and I encourage anyone who likes her music to buy it there. Also, look for all the collaborations with Zircon. They are worth a listen as well. Sadly, I bought all the music BEFORE the discography discount. :(
