I only played Forbidden West and its dlc, I loved it. I didn't have any intention of playing what started it all but, I'll probably get this when it's either on sale or on ps plus. Mainly because I know how Sony raised the price of the regular version so newcomers like me couldn't benefit from the upgrade deal.

You could buy the physical disc (the original HZD) from someone for cheaper price and you can buy the upgrade for only $10 after you put the disc in your PS5. There should be a pop up messages on the bottom right for you to upgrade

I like how the differences between Zero Dawn and Forbidden West aren't that extensive. Especially for people who have never played these and get to play the ZD remaster and THEN the newer FW. Most of the mechanics are the same, the menus, map, etc. haven't even changed that much. I like the ZD "intro" more than the FW intro though. Yea, they're just designed to show you the very basics, but this one was more interesting. I'm trying to play FW for a second time now so just felt like looking back on ZD a little bit.

So it's basically a re-skin of the original game, and THAT'S IT. For new players, this remaster is definitely worth a play before HFW. It has better story than HFW (because it's a fresh new story with excellent moments and twists). "The Anointed of The Nora" and the "Apollo Purge" scenes... The only issue , with this game is When Aloy speaks , it is mixed up with the various Audio recordings of the Machine...or the Characters speaking are jumbled up with the Speaking dialogue of the main character. You can't hear what is happening or get an understanding of that part of the game... Besides this... The fighting style in this game (destroying machines or attacking people), is super repetitive..and boring.

In my opinion this is one of the best, most playable and one of the most beautiful games ever produced, even without the remaster. It does get a touch tedious and "grind heavy" at times and the map gets just way too cluttered with items, side quests and places to go but other than that, if you like open world games, this one is a definite "must have"!
