The 1/10 scale Axial® SCX10™ III Jeep® JT Gladiator 4WD RTR marks the next step forward in ready-to-run, scale off-road action. While continuing to incorporate key components that have made SCX10™ vehicles successful, the SCX10™ III chassis increases realism with details that include a replica V8 engine to house the front-mounted 540 brushed motor, mated to a realistic transmission housing and transfer case like a 1:1 vehicle. The Spektrum™ DX3™ 3-channel 2.4GHz DSMR® transmitter and Firma™ 40A ESC/receiver are also ready to give you the advantages of innovative Spektrum™ Smart technology.
Out of the box, the SCX10™ III Jeep® JT Gladiator transmission offers a third-channel DIG function that lets you lock the rear axle from the transmitter for front wheel drive and a tighter turning radius. Though locked out from the factory, you can set up the vehicle to have a 40% faster second gear instead of DIG - or, by adding another micro servo and using a radio with at least four channels (such as the 5-channel Spektrum DX5), have simultaneous access to both the DIG and two-speed functions.
The SCX10™ III Jeep® JT Gladiator uses new AR45™ portal axles to improve performance by increasing the ground clearance and reducing torque twist. The motor is located at the front of the chassis for forward weight. The standard battery tray is positioned near the vehicle's center for improved balance and accepts full-size LiPo or NiMH packs. There are also locations in the side pods for drivers who prefer smaller "shorty" LiPo packs. Inner fenders and floor sides hide internal components that would usually be visible from the side of the chassis.
Topping off the chassis is a scale Jeep® JT Gladiator body that mirrors its full-size counterpart with many highly authentic details. The body has over 20 injection-molded parts including a bed rack, door handles, mirrors, hood vents and more - taking polycarbonate body realism to the next level. The body has been split into three pieces for a more realistic deep bed. Officially licensed Nitto Trail Grappler tires on 3-piece beadlock wheels add more scale realism and more grip on dirt, rocks, and all other off-road trails.
With the Spektrum™ DX3™ radio, you will enjoy the superior range, response, and interference resistance of DSMR® technology. Together with the installed Firma™ Smart 40A ESC/receiver, it also offers the advantages of exclusive Spektrum™ Smart technology. Install a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and you can view vehicle battery capacity briefly on the DX3 transmitter's voltage level indicator. Outfit the DX3 with the optional BT2000 Bluetooth module and download the free Spektrum Dashboard™ app to your smart device, and you are also ready to use Smart real-time telemetry - without needing on-board sensors or modules.

As an alternative, you can set up the vehicle with a two-speed transmission instead and select between high and low speeds. If you would like to use both the two-speed transmission and DIG function, just add another servo and a radio with at least four channels (such as the 5-channel Spektrum™ DX5).
The SCX10™ III Jeep® JLU Wrangler uses portal axles to improve performance by increasing the ground clearance and reducing torque twist. Its standard battery tray accepts full-size "standard" LiPo or NiMH packs. There's space on the side rails as well for drivers who prefer smaller packs. Inner fenders and floor sides hide internal components that would usually be visible from the side of the chassis.
The chassis is topped off with a Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited four-door body that includes a roll cage, front hood vents and cowl, windshield wipers, mirrors, door handles and other molded-in details, plus a detailed interior and LED lighting. New taller and wider, officially licensed Nitto Trail Grappler tires on 3-piece beadlock wheels add more scale realism and more grip on dirt, rocks, and all other off-road trails.

Just a constructive criticism here: Why don't you guys show the entire process, how to disassemble the transmission, all the minute details of what screw does what, how to re assemble it all, etc? Look at the Traxxas videos about upgrades to the TRX platform and compare how detailed they are. If you want to charge a premium for your products, you gotta deliver a premium support too.

Wow this was the most helpful video I've ever seen. That was great how the camera man got right in there and showed us which screws to remove. Oh and the simplicity of this design is amazing. Want two speed? No problem all you gotta do is remove the entire transmission and motor then you gotta spilt the tranny open and remove the two speed gears and open those up and remove a tiny piece. I still have no clue what I'm looking for or how to get to it. Thanks for the absolutely useless video on how to get two speed in your ridiculously over engineered transmission. Next time just put a screw or something that can be accessible without removing the entire power train.

Kind of glossed right over the transmission uninstall, no close-ups showing what actual parts he was pointing to, other than learning that there was a spacer to remove, this was a virtually useless video.

This would have been a lot better if the required servo was installed and a demo of the truck in both speeds had been shown.

This video should be titled "How to show you the spacer in the 2 speed from 10 feet away" This isnt really Horizon Hobbies actual tech guy is it? Its just some random dude that grabbed the channel name right? There is no way a multi million dollar company would allow this guy to do there how to's surely ...

should put a link to a video showing how to convert an scx10.3 to 2 speed that would help because that is not what this is.

This was the hardest change I have ever had to make to an RC car. Not to mention I am on my 4th servo now that keeps breaking. 3 Broke with the dig feature and 1 just broke after playing with it the 1st time in the gear changing option. You did not show in detail how to take apart the transmission and also you did not show how to put the servo on. I am not sure about the integrity of this company. Cleary you are selling a faulty server setup. Having dealing with RC cars since I was a little kid this has defiantly been the most annoying to work on. Mainly because of the customer support and the shadiness of the way you guys try to hide the fact it is very hard to have this thing working properly. How sad. I will never buy a product of this type and company ever again. Maybe you should consider I am not the only one who feels this way; but the only one who can verbalize their frustrations clearly. I am sure you get phone calls about it everyday. Maybe its about time to take responsibility and fix these issues with this very expensive toy you make. Good luck out there.

I bought an SCX10 3 because my dad has a TRX4 and I wanted something different. First time I used it the dig servo went out. Traded it in and got a TRX4. Haven't looked back

He trusts that we can remove and disassemble the transmission on our own but details how to connect the power wires "black to black and red to red". This is entirely too complicated!

Folks' that's how easy it is 😂 😴..... Don't count the FF time your looking at 1½ to 2 hrs for a well versed & extremely skilled enthusiasts, if not just throw it in the trash & move on 😉 🤣🤘🏼💯

Is this supposed to be a joke? The whole process sped up, no mention of how to install the servo or linkage? This doesn’t explain anything at all, please do better Horizon. You failed really badly at this. Seems like you guys threw this together as quickly as possible without any thought of actually explaining this process.

That was brilliant, I've just received a used Gladiator in fantastic condition and I wanted to have both dig and the two speed , I figured the transmission was locked somehow but wasn't sure how , this video has helped me out , so thank you very much for sharing this very very handy tip on how to unlock the transmission, Stay safe mate 🇬🇧

Thanks for the effort, but I have to agree with other comments in saying that I honestly didn't learn anything here other than that a spacer needs to be removed. There's no detail on how to disassemble the transmission, how to mount and set up the additional servo, or basically anything that a new owner would need to understand about the process... So, basically, it was, "take everything apart on your own, remove THIS little piece, and then put it all back together. Sorry, but you're on your own again there... Oh! And if your want to install the servo to make it all actually work... Again, figure it out!"

This is so easy. I see all these complaints and people saying this takes an hour and a half to do. I can do this in less then 15 minutes and have on at least 7 scx10iiis. Man. Take it apart once in a while.....lol

can I move the dig servo (which one don't use) and use it for the 2 speed? and how do I configure the transmitter to do this?

I know this is old, but there are no videos close to recent on this topic to ask this. I would like to see the disabling of the dig feature (hopefully adding the spacer from the 2sp), and the use of the 3ch servo for shifting. Including the Axial part numbers needed to make the connection from the servo to the 2sp shift rod.

This was the worst “how to” video I’ve ever seen. “That’s how easy it is”……. SMH. Thanks for all the close up shots, …… oh wait, JK…. There weren’t any close up shots. I also appreciate you completely glossing over servo install, set up of the servo arm, etc…..Combined with the complete lack of help from the kit owners manual, I’m now more confused than ever.

Nothing about this is simple, you litteraly have to disassemble half the car. Couldn't you just add a clip on the outside to lock it in first gear ? Further on, for that price point I would expect that it already comes with a 4 channel receiver and the servo for two speed transmission installed and working. Especially since the Axial SCX24 is sold with a 4 channel transmitter and receiver, even if it isn't needed for that model. And if you want to add your radio setup that isn't spektrum you cant without having to buy an other esc, since the one that comes with it, is a receiver / esc combined, so that you can't plug it in. On my model, I can't say if it's only mine that has a factory defect, but the transmitter had a problem. The steering channel was super sensitive, by turning the steering wheel by only 2 / 3 degrees the servo would already reach the end point. Overall I was disappointed in this model.

First off, I would totally pay $50 more for the truck if it just came with that spacer removed, and the additional micro servo to make it work. Why put a two speed transmission in the truck and not make it function-able in the first place. “Let’s make it so the customer has to tear out and tear down just to remove a spacer, and go through getting a micro servo and what ever linkage or servo horn to make it work”. WTF. Second, this isn’t the best video. Doesn’t show the whole process as far as hooking up the servo.

I was considering getting an SCX10 so that I could have a second one in addition to my TRX4 original Bronco. I find the 2 speed transmission to be an absolute must have. After seeing this video I decided to instead buy a second TRX4 in the new Bronco body. Firstly, I simply don't have the time to try and figure this put. This video certainly does not explain it. Secondly, even if I did figure it out I'd still have to go out and buy a new transmitter and Servo which would be costly not to mention would require more work. This is already an expensive truck that even with everything properly installed is not as capable as the TRX4. This is an absolute no brainer in favor of the TRX4 as I would assume most who value a proper 2 speed would agree with. Axiel makes this a huge hassle and charges laughable amounts of money for this thing. Traxxsss is so far ahead it is not even funny.

It’s fairly simple to do but this is still one of the worst instructional videos out there. At the end he says you’ll need to lock up the dig, so where’s the rest of that video? Hire me and I’ll do all your instructionals with actual helpful information and camera angles!

This is a horrible video. 1) lighting is very poor 2) most important moments are skipped with fast playback And why the RTR is sold with only 3 channel transmitter anyways?? Why put an option in, which most people won't be using anyways, but will have to pay for

What a pointless video...Didn't show anything useful at all. I have an idea! How about include how to do this among many other missed details in the instruction manual!!! I would've paid $100 more for this rtr to have 2 speed and dig. Most people buying rtr would rather have 2 speed than dig I'm sure too..
