have you looked at tart cherry juice to increase melatonin? There are studies about it's efficacy in for sleep as a melatonin booster. As someone w/ PTSD it's a lifesaver to get intensely restful sleep.

I am so sick and tired. Im ready to take action. I want in on it. I want to make a permanent plan, to be healthy! Fit! And not pre-diabetic. I dont want to be on meds. I dont need a band-aid, I need healing! Where can I start?

I was wondering the same Kenya - I too have extremely low progesterone, very low DHEA, low melatonin, estrogen dominant and high cholesterol even though I watch what I eat and exercise 3-4 days a week min. :S Thank you Christine for highlighting all these but wondering about the combinations...

got hashimoto and a general anxiety disorder for a very long time. thats why i´m pretty sure i have also high cortisol and possibly also too much erstrogen because of my thyroid. but the most doctors doesn´t care about those correlations. they just say...your blood looks good, just eat less and yout weight will be fine 🙄 mh but nice to know that intermitted fasting is not good for such a condition. i started with that a week ago 😥

Helppppp!!!! I’m sure that my hormones are totally off. However, I’m not sure which ones. I know my cortisol levels are likely high, (it’s been a rough couple years with lots of transitions), also had a hysterectomy last year (ovaries still in tact), however I have always been athletic and fairly active and I need to drop this belly fat! Please help. I’m open to anything almost! 🤷🏾‍♀️🙄🥺

Either high testosterone levels or low estrogen levels... either way testosterone dominance is what causes stubborn belly fat.

Hi Christine. I used to only focus on macros and it got me into some health issues > growth of cysts & breast tumor (benign). Eating too much protein and fats (mostly from animals) caused me to be in surge of estrogen dominance. I shifted my carbs mostly to greens and it changed my hormones and energy completely. I'm more balanced now! This is so useful and very helpful. Currently I've been focusing on whole foods for fibre sources. Can you maybe consider making a video the types of fibre supplement? :)

I've been doing keto since March and and without exercising I was able to lose 10 pounds with intermittent fasting. However now that I'm exercising more recently since the past 2 months and I've still been intermittent fasting the scale has not been able to move. I've noticed some fat loss in pictures but the scale is not moving. I'm not understanding what it is that I'm doing wrong. Also since I've been working out more (burning sometimes 300-600 calories per day 3-5 times per week) maybe I need to eat more. My dietician has me eating 1250 calories per day. I'm also low estrogen, have stubborn belly fat and hormonal issues as well. I'm so stuck and have been since March.

I have endometriosis, had the laser to remove the endometriosis now have to go on pill full time to stop my periods to stop it coming back. I don’t want to do this as don’t want more oestrogen in my body but I don’t want no oestrogen either. I’m trying to lose weight also. What would be the best thing to do while on the pill how do I not put on weight and keep my hormones balanced?

I really need help! I've recently been diagnosed with simple endometrial hyperplasia and the consultant wants to fit a mirena coil. I'm over weight and one of the side effects is weight gain! She wants me to drop weight, I'd started to make improvements to my eating habits already, but I'm confused, freaked out and have no clue what to do now. Clearly the EH is contributing to my weight and now I'm concerned the treatment for it will make it worse. I've got a lot wrong with my spine, have chronic pain and depression and anxiety! I've got a phone appointment with my Dr on Wed just to make sure this is the right decision. I know the consultant is the expert but a second opinion never hurts. Any advice on what to do to get weight off would be really appreciated

I feel like I have a hormonal imbalance. I had two daughters in 2.5 years and my youngest I have nurses for over a year. I feel like exclusively nursing her sent my estrogen through the rough. If I do like an estrogen detox, will I go back to pre-baby levels? Or is this something that you have to manage for the rest of your life?

What are high levels or low levels of these hormones? You talk about high and low but you never talk about what the numbers look like. At least ballpark.

In women, as long as estrogen is dominant over testosterone and estrogen isn't excessively high, then they'll be in good health. A baseline estradiol level of 400pmol/l is great as long as testosterone does not exceed it! Testosterone should not be above 0.9nmol/l in a woman in my opinion.

Christine, what about low estrogen combined with high testosterone? (in a woman). I am seeing a natural doctor and she has me on iodine for my thyroid which wasn't too bad because she reduced me from taking everyday to 3 times a week. I'm also on Female Balance (now foods brand) to help with all of this and occasionally evening primrose. Just curious what protocol that would entail since this video didn't mention high testosterone?

The Dutch test is carried out by a naturopath here in Australia where women feel their GPs aren't listening to them, they go for a full female hormone panel with the Dutch test.

I have hypothyroidism I am in menopause and I have adrenal fatigue. I have been working at the weight from the menopause side and I have lost 21 pounds except for the belly. I am now at 275. I have always been fat except for two other times when I lost a lot.

You can go to your primary doctor to have blood work done and then ask for the result in paper because it shows result and normal range.

This may sound like a silly question, but will the actions to correct the hormone issues possibly result in disproportionate breast shrinkage? Has anyone heard a rumor that low carb diets shrink your books more so than other weight loss?

That would be a blessing for me as a large breasted woman, shrink away. I would do anything to have two raisins on a bread board no lie. I’ve carried these things around since I was 13, the neck and back pain, bra straps that dig into your skin. At 56 I don’t need them anymore, I’ve had my kids, all breast feed, now I just want some relief. I’m to afraid to get a reduction but it may be my only solution.

Breast tissue is fat, muscle and the stuff that makes milk, and the tissue that holds and supports all of it. If your breast composition is mostly fat then U will lose some volume if U r slimmer. It depends on your body.

You'll lose fat tissue from around the breasts as you lose weight which will make them look smaller. But other tissue which is managed by estrogen will only shrink if your estrogen levels decrease or testosterone levels increase. Low carb diets decrease testosterone if not combined with higher fat intake and that slows the thyroid because estrogen dominates, so you'll actually notice your breasts feel a little fuller.

Hormonal belly is the worst! I’m in the gym every day and went gluten/dairy free and I still keep gaining in the tummy. My naturopath says if this last round of adrenal support doesn’t work, I will go on thyroid medication.

The most common signs of a hormonal imbalance in women are oily skin and acne, hair loss and thin hair, hair growth in areas men grow it such as the face, chest, belly and thighs, very heavy/light periods, long or short menstrual cycles, sensitivity to heat (hot flushes) or sensitivity to cold (chills), and easy weight gain that is concentrated on the belly area. You can actually tell your hormonal situation just from your body shape... for example if you are apple shaped and have a hump at the back of your neck, then that signals high Cortisol. If you have a wide waistline, that signals insulin resistance, if you are pear shaped (a smaller waist to hip ratio, chunky thighs and a plump face), that signals high estrogen, if you have a slim face, slim legs, but chunky neck, outer arms, lower belly and love handles, that signals high testosterone.
