Footage of a 1/76th OO scale model railway built myself and my wife as a winter project in Rotorua New Zealand from late June 2022.
The layout is DCC and operated via a Hornby Elite controller. The models are of British steam locomotives made by Hornby with the larger locos being fitted with Hornby sound decoders. The turntable is a modified Hornby unit run through an auto-reverser made by Blocksignalling UK. Power for the turntable motor comes from a separate small Hornby DC transformer,
All the points are Hornby Express type fitted with Hornby under table mounted solenoid motors. Activation of the point motors is by mini double momentary action switches mounted in a small plastic fishing tackle box. Power to the point motors comes from the auxiliary output of a Hornby Elite controller and through a Peco capacitor discharge unit.
The scenery is inspired by rural areas of the UK with a time period dating to the locos between 1938 to 1955. the 1/76 scale Model cars are of the same period and made by Oxford and Corgi. The buildings are Skaledale and Metcalfe.
