One of Hornbys latest releases is the W1 Loco. This was a unique one-off engine originally designed by Sir Nigel Gresley to investigate the possibilities of a high pressure boiler. When development was stopped on this project it was rebuilt as a streamlined loco resembling the A4 in some respects but still retaining its 4-6-4 wheel.
Here we see it going through my weathering works before entering service on the layout

Really nice job. Your video appeared in my feed. I'm not personally interested in weathering steam locomotives (diesel guy, sorry), so I won't be watching the video. But I did want to leave a comment, as the thumbnail really caught my eye as a great piece of work.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed although I must admit I haven't got a set routine for weathering just a drawer full of weathering paints and powders. So, I try something slightly different with each loco so that they don't end up all looking the same. Regards Richard

Nice job Richard, I prefare them slightly weathered in real life they did not stay clean all that long, I think Hornby over do it on some of their locos, I've cleaned my black 5 and 8F up a bit. Ian H.

Thank you Ian, Yes I think sometimes I over-weather locos there always seems somewhere on the engine that needs a touch more, but I don't use enamels anymore only acrylics for spraying so at least it can be removed if needed. Regards, Richard
