You CAN phase through enemies with the Shade Cloak but it needs to recharge every time you use it. You’ll see those black particles swirl around you while it’s recharging. If you dash while it’s on cooldown, you won’t phase.

It doesn't matter much, but the reason that it seemed like sprintmaster didn't do anything was because you were in dirtmouth, where the knight walks instead of runs, anywhere else on the map you would be moving faster. Also there is a different animation with it equipped.

Just a reminder that even though the map is filled in, it doesn't mean you explored everything in that area, it just means you have been to that area. For example in Kingdom's Edge you went straight to the Hornet fight in the middle of the Map by the Cast off Shell, however you never went to the lower right bench or the upper left area.

Thought I'd gather a small spoiler-free list of places you may want to explore more for extra lore and items etc. that aren't necessarily story relevant :)) Places you might think you've explored already but haven't (these aren't story relevant but cool to explore): - The Stone Sanctuary - The Higher ledges in the large open area in the city of tears just to the left of the King's Station - The bench you were initially heading for in Kingdom's Edge by a hut in the bottom right of the area on the map - The rooms beneath the Queen's Station on the map in the fungal wastes Places to check out: - Above crystal peak - Unexplored tunnel going off to the right from crystal peak - Left side of Greenpath (Also the lake of Unn like you said!!!) - Unexplored room in the centre of Greenpath - Left side of Fog Canyon - Don't forget to go back to fight Gorb in the Howling Cliffs! - Down through the coffin and to the right in the Resting grounds (yes it's a horrible horrible place but worth checking out for extra lore etc.) - Have another look at the lower tram track on your map... - There is a spot on your map where you can use the monarch wings above mantis village - As you said in the video there is more to the royal waterways that might be worth finishing off - GO BACK TO MR. GRUB and COLLECT YER GOODS!!! :DD - You came across a locked door in the Soul Sanctum a long time ago, you pointed it out in the video, if only you had a key... - Go back to the forgotten crossroads and explore the two paths on your map that you haven't ventured down fully - The area around statue of the dashmaster. (I believe you marked it because of the anxious beetle you couldn't get to earlier) - Have a closer look on the map at the elevator shaft to the right of the Watcher's spire Obviously there are endless places to explore and I haven't listed everything, these places are not necessary to complete the game but if you want the full experience I HIGHLY Recommend visiting them. I've been hugely enjoying this series so far, thank you for your positivity and joy :) good luck with the rest of the game!!!

IMPORTANT: That cave at the far right of dirtmouth past the graveyard is a cool place to get your Geo back when you don't feel like going all the way back to pick it up. I might consider this a spoiler if I ever saw any of the letsplayers figure this out.

I've never seen anyone get to Hornet's second fight and get King's Brand this early in the game, same about getting the Fog Canyon map. To show how many different, unique ways there are to progress in this game! Also, just so you know, the "imprint of Abyss given form" in 58:35 is not a door! It's those void tendrils in a lifeless, kind-of-fossilized form. Since you can't actually kill the void tendrils, finding them already dead is how you get the journal entry for them! There are other unkillable enemies that you can get the journal entry for in a similar way :3

Doing great! Few minor tips for future to help you, especially the geo one: 1. You opened a door with a simple key in town. On the right. You can use a collectible item there, when you are dead to get your shade back with the money you lost. It helps if you are dead on a really faraway bad area. 2. For essence keep in mind that most bosses in the game including the ones you have beat, have an upgraded version somewhere near their first form, where you can get a heck load of essence. They are pretty hard though so maybe in the future. Some of them are much easier. 3. There was a lever next to Emilitia... (its not important but usually you don't have to backtrack so much, there is a different way to exit areas)

The reason Hornet 2 is so much harder is because the arena is slightly smaller than the last one, so you're never actually out of her range of attack. In the first battle against her, you could simply get out of range to avoid her. This one you actually have to dodge on the correct timing. That plus her being a little bit faster and having a couple different attacks means it's a MUCH more difficult fight.

The complete silence during one of the starting fights was so nerve-racking augh I loved it so much just sitting there in pure anxiety as you inched ever closer to beating her. You should try competition bouldering. It's similar, in that you're watching someone tackle a problem over and over again until they complete it. (Only if they don't get it on time they "lose" the points for it.) It's much more engaging of a sport to watch IMO than the "typical" sports.

Just wanna throw out that you *can* go through enemies with the shade cloak. It has a very short cooldown though. Whenever you shade dash, notice that after a half second or so, some little black particles go into you. That's the shade cloak recharging. You can only go through things with i-frames when the shade is up.

The thing about HK is that this game gives you so many opportunities to heal for 1 damage. But if you try to squeeze an extra one in there, youre gonna get hit and it will throw off your rhythm and be a waste of soul. Being patient, healing for 1 when you can and avoiding getting hit, thats the move. (Personally, at least, thats what Ive found works best in this game for me.)

With Sprintmaster the reason you couldn’t tell at first is because the game makes you walk at a fixed speed in Dirtmouth. It’s a noticeable difference normally, though not massive. For quick traversal your best option is to use crystal dash :)

Dash spamming is generally best, but I personally enjoy the speed difference that sprintmaster gives in several boss fights, as it makes sidestepping and distancing SO much easier.

The real reason is because the game doesn't explicitly tell you a sprint button Holding down dash lets you sprint instead of walk after your dash.

Also note, because you can only do this once: Once you figure out how to get into the blue butterfly door, once you enter and finish that area, you can't go again, so be sure to do all your exploring the first time.

Going for the elusive True Ending Zero Dreamers % run I see. Congrats on beating Hornet II. She's a serious skill check in a first playthrough and you did it pretty darn underpowered compared to when most players take her on.

Also you can’t even say you’re bad at the game. You beat hornet ! She’s a hard boss. You can see it in your gameplay, you know how to make those split second decisions on when to hit, when to heal, managing soul to maximize damage with spells while not being too greedy and still being able to heal. Experience has paid off, I’m sure if you were to try hornet’s first fight you would find it easy. So the guy who hate watches you is completely wrong ( though even if you were bad it still wouldn’t be ok to be angry at you for that )

You just have to wait 1-2 dashes before the cloak loads again! :) Also, good job on defeating hornet! I also had some trouble with her!

Emma, ignore those haters. I get such joy from your sense of awe and wonder. Fast travel tip: if you quit the game, you will be sent back to the last bench at which you saved. On some rare instances you could miss an NPC interaction by doing it, but it can save a lot of back tracking.

1:47:21 you can phase through enemies with the shade cloak, but there is a very brief cooldown. So you can’t do it constantly. You sort of flash slightly when the cooldown is over.

Congrats on beating Hornet Sentinel (what her rematch fight is called), that's a tough one, especially at your upgrade level. Worth noting: you can dream nail some non-living entities. That room in the abyss with the creepy statues? You can dream nail them to get a clue on what to do. Generally if you see something and aren't quite sure what to do with it then dream nail should be the first thing you try, since surprisingly often it might give you a clue. And that's outside dream nails on random things that give lore, of which there are also plenty.

Great job on Hornet 2: Spiky Boogaloo! I think we all have atleast one boss that seemed to take forever to beat. Multiple of the dream bosses drove me insane. A good way to practise boss fights is to equip all your health inceasing charms and just try to dodge and memorize their attacks and find openings to hit them.

It was indeed close. I absolutely admit it. In fact I was cheering you on, hoping that you would make it through Hornet's fight on that playthrough. Honestly you were doing so well, especially with how you were integrating your spell into the dance. ...and then the death montage. Oof. lol. But still oof. I gotta give you props for still laughing on the third time, but you could see how the fight eventually started to get to you. Honestly, the fact that you didn't rage quit but kept at it for that many times is SERIOUSLY impressive. "If this place is for the King then it should be nice, by the logic, right?" Eh, by compassionate, friendly human logic, sure. By bug logic? eh.... As to your progress, so long as you look at the map and keep trying to go to places you haven't been before then you'll get most of what the game has to offer. There are, obviously, secrets and hidden paths, but if there are places on the map that you haven't been and can obviously go to then you still have more to explore without needing to try to find every breakable wall/hidden path. Actually, now that you have the wings, isma's tear, and shade cloak I think you can get to every area that requires special abilities...well, other than whatever is going on with that dead knight in the palace grounds, obviously. ...So you may want to test your dash and shade cloak in a bright area where you can easily see the shadows it makes and pay attention to what it looks like. Like...really close attention. In any case, really enjoying your playthrough, please keep going!

Quality of life tips as usual Dream nailing is only for NPCs and objects surrounded by shiny dream nails circles so no need to dream nail walls. Try to combine your abilities in boss fights (desolate dive, double jump) Try to ask yourself if there is something you could miss (especially in such moments at 1:42:00) You could visit Jiji again at this point - she would be happy to see you. Keep it up! Your routing is quite unique until now.

So the Shade Cloak does allow you to phase through enemies. But you do need to time it right. And also, there's a refractory period, so to speak. Or I could just call it a cooldown, I suppose.
