I wonder if the audience appreciated this legendary performer

Not really, then if you dont sing with him, every one of these melodies seperately, then you are absent...

It's like listening to recitations of poetry. Some are too theatrical - putting on an act for attention, while others aren't quite with it. and then there are those that are a little quirky, but strangely captivating; they put their whole selves into the piece and make it their own. That is this interpretation. Horowitz uses so much rubato here and so much variation in his interpretation that it's almost overwhelming, and yet it's captivating and interesting and impossible to step away from.

Il y a trop d'imbéciles qui jouent Chopin par le métronome.

A legend indeed! His interpretation is simply the best, even at this age. His legacy is incomparable.

I don't know why, but I prefer this piece to be slower than the speed Horowitz is playing it at. Just a little less in some spots. But otherwise it's perfect. Except for the audio of course :)
@ardarico6 жыл бұрын
maybe because it is actually a "Lento" tempo, and it should be played slower than this

Madam In what century do you want to live In what century do you want to love As I play away the time on my piano with sparkling wine and bemused smiles with French wall paper and Italian tiles I only know one thing the soft and supple love that comes with the early spring M.S. Morrison

Stupenda interpretazione, di grande personalità, unica. Quasi tutti gli altri pianisti sono uguali tra di loro, in confronto a Horowitz sono molto più scolastici.

Wow this is the first time in my life that I actually don't like Horowitz's interpretation of a piece. I'm a diehard Horowitz fan.

where are the times pianists were invited and honoured at the white house. Mr Obama, what are you waiting for?..... and where are the apperances of Mr Putin as listener of concerts? where in europe musicians are still honoured like this? in england the royal family does go regularly to concerts as in the past? what a poor period we live in where classical music has no more its important status as in the past.... where are the life transmitions worldwide of classical music as in the past?

In Israel this noble music is still much sought after, still much appreciated. To this day.

Where is this noble music still deeply cherrished? In a different comment I said Israel. There, still, yes. But where else? China! The Asian world loves and appreciates the fine music. Of course, Lang Lang is a butcher of the music, but only in his interpretations, not in his technique. He's widely popular, despite his histrionics, and such. No, there is no one like Horowitz, a player who could bring audiences to their tears, as well as too their feet.
