"Horrible PERVERSION Of Justice!" | Rod Liddle On Huw Edwards' Sentence "Influenced By Politics"

Huw Edwards’ “long-earned reputation is in tatters”, a judge has said as he sentenced the former BBC presenter for accessing indecent images of children.
The disgraced ex-newsreader was spared jail after admitting three charges of “making” indecent photographs after he was sent 41 illegal images by convicted paedophile Alex Williams over WhatsApp.
The 63-year-old was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, during a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The Spectator's Rod Liddle says the difference in sentencing of rioters and Huw Edwards is "not justice, it's a horrible perversion of justice".
"Whether it's Huw or any of the other BBC's long list of pedos, their cases should be heard in isolation away from politics!"

The Edwards case is so disturbing. That sentencing magistrate was practically fawning over him. Are we to take it that people having images of seven-year-old boys being abused on their phone, as Edwards did, is ok?? I am just disgusted that he walked away completely scot-free.

There is a legal firm called McMillan that advertises it helps individuals who have been involved with illegal images. Their expertise is aimed at keeping people out of prison by using reports and excuses. Pleading guilty is the key. It is extremely sad for the victims. Liddell is very wishy washy on Edwards, disappointing.

Child abuse images are graded by trained officers who assign them a category based on their content: category A - images involving penetrative sexual activity, sexual activity with an animal or sadism; category B - images involving non-penetrative sexual activity; and category C - other indecent images not falling into categories A or B, but it must not depict any  sexual activity. he was found with some category A images. Huw Edwards was found to have: 41 IIOC comprise 7 Category A images (6x moving and 1x still), 12 Category B images (all moving) and 22 Category C images (1x moving and 21x still).

This is a very bad dirty human nature morality so Huw Davids' case, the judge said if he put Davids into a jail Davids may suicide so he cannot do it.. Is that right of the judge's behaviour? This kind of acting is all over the world, the same as this case exactly.. Specially many politicians are doing badly and they can survive in this world.therefire Davids is a very lucky person but his wife wants to divorce with him. He destroyed every things. Suspended sentences : When the crim reoffends ( as they usually do) the original sentence kicks in and is served CONCURRENTLY so no penalty at all.

It's interesting the judge's comments about remorse. Genuine remorse is demonstrated by trying to right the wrong that you've committed. Has he done that and if so, how? Examples of genuine remorse would be giving a sizeable donation to a charity that helps the victims or even assisting the authorities to identify those committing the abuse and track down the perpetrators.

The problem with Talk TV coverage is they use topics like these to bash a competitor e.g. the BBC. This is a serious subject. The headline seems incorrect as it seems Edwards got the standard sentence given his crime and first time offender.

It is not standard at all for his case to have been heard in a magistrate court though. Also 1st time offence for many of the rioters in the summer as well but the instruction from government was to make an example and give swift justice.
