Hello from Texas, I was horrified to read that even almost 50 years since the war it is still common to find human remains. The Vietnam War came onto our tv screens every night when I was young and sensitive. Images seared into my memory that make me now glad we only had black and white tv, not color. 🥺 I hope you will update us when you know more about the poor soul whose remains that you found, and that the skull will be returned to relatives or given respectful resting place. I remember those days living on a US army base in Germany no one talk about the war as it was not happening, and we did not have TV all we got was the radio or the Stars & Stripes Newspaper, and who wants to read we are army brats after all, as far as we know the world was at peace until your father left home for a year, and again no one talk about those that never came back! Once a week we would get a half hour radio show of Adam 12, and we got upset if we miss the show because that was all we had and the year before that there was no radio at home that how important the radio was to us! Before this we when to the base commander home to listen his army radio, dad work for him directly it was just the five of us at his home listening to a rebroadcast of the War of the Worlds, now that could put the fear of god in you all three of us kids believe it was real, let me tell you it was one open well past bedtime until I crash fast asleep! No one told us it was fake my mother is French she was clueless dad thought is was funny because he live through the real days of the broadcast, so why trick his spoil brat kids yeah that was fun we did need Halloween that year we was good! The Germans back then did not Halloween, and the base we lived was small not enough people so we were told, but it was small! THE OLD DAYS ARE GONE!

Some places fine you, a lot of places in the States have sidewalks that are just as covered. There are some Americans who make similar videos of cleaning up places. Especially this is true in areas where more people are moving away from the town than to it, like Detroit.

I think the skull and bones where dug up elsewhere. And then dropped into the overgrown grass, when they realized they had no value. They didn't think any one would clear the sidewalk.

They might have built it expecting fancy homes to be built or maybe there were homes there but they were destroyed? Those paths might be from before the war. Or when the government was feeling optimistic about regenerating/ gentrifying the community.

It may not be a crime scene or even an old cemetery The skull maybe the only one found so not a site of historical significance. They have contacted the cemetery nearby who if concerned would have recommended or told them to cease their work on the site. In Australia and many countries there are laws about finding human remains that will immediately shut down works on the site for the purpose of an archaeological dig or exhumimg bodies

Hard to tell, but I think it is an East Asian skull based on the eye sockets and the part of the jawline I could make out. This makes sense, because of the higher ratio of East Asians who died in the war, but there are still a lot of Americans missing. Sadly, the missing Americans have been the source of numerous rumors that Vietnam secretly kept prisoners, they didn't but families of missing soldiers wanted to believe their men were still alive, and this caused a lot of mistrust of Vietnamese in the 80s and 90s. Interestingly, America and Vietnam probably have a stronger friendship now than almost any other country in Asia, and this is probably because all the work the Vietnamese have done to help us find our missing.
