I’m from Mexico and the Chupacabra was talked about too. We also have “La llorona” (the weeping lady) who is also a Banshee. El Coco, which is like the boogeyman. Then we have the Ahuízotl, from Aztec mythology (not sure if that counts). And tons of nasty evil witch tales.

I’m from Ohio and we have our own Bigfoot’s (Grassman, minerva monster,orange eyes) The frogmen of Loveland said to be magical. Defiance werewolf that attacked railroad workers. Crosswick lizard man, The extremely creepy Charles mill lake monster, A monster in Lake Erie. Native American monsters like pukwudigeies. A giant snake. Mothman and a lot more.

Fascinating! You guys have so many and I love that you know all of them! I love that Big Foot is called Grass Man. I think it is interesting to learn how all of these different legends came to be. Are these well known in Ohio?

@@TerreDiceGames not really but in the local communities there are some festivals. The Loveland frog is probably the most well known cryptid in the area second to mothman. And I forgot to mention the melon heads of lake county.

Thanks for this. I LOVE Horrified as well. I'll definitely pick this one up, now. It would be so awesome if they had the rights to do a modern horror movie one with Michael Myers, Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, etc.

Thanks for the review. When I first saw this I was hoping for The windigo or hodag the be in it. Bigfoot and Jersey devil is awesome as is chupacabra. The banshee reminds me of the lady in white legend. Would love to see a 80s theme game next with Freddy, Jason, Chucky, and Michael Meyers.

That Bigfoot mini is badly warped. Here's something you can try to fix it. Get a small pot of water on the stove. Just before or right as the water boils, carefully dip the warped part of the plastic mini into the water, and hold it in there for 30 seconds to a minute (with thicker plastic it might take longer). If you accidentally drop the figure into the water, immediately dump the pot into the sink. After you take out the miniature, it should be softer. Sometimes the heat allows the plastic to move back to its original position before it was warped, but other times you may need to carefully adjust the figure. For example, if the figure's legs are bent, place the figure's lower half into the hot water as directed above. Then, place the base on a flat surface (like a countertop) and bend the piece so it is standing straight. Now, you hold it in the corrected position (blowing on it helps cool it down faster) until it cools down. Also blow off any hot water still on the figure (it tends to pool on the base). Some people suggest placing the plastic mini in ice water to cool it down quickly so it stays in that position, but that didn't work with my Horrified pieces that were bent. Maybe on other types of minis. After a few minutes of holding it should do the trick. After it cools down, check on later in case it bends back to its warped position. You may have to try this multiple times. I had trouble with Bigfoot and the Mummy from these Horrified games, but after a few sessions of this, they look so much better. The American Monsters are made of a thicker plastic, so they may take more time in the hot water and time to cool down.

My hometown monster is the Aboganog, but there's almost no consistent legend to speak of--we can't even all agree on the name. (Sometimes it's just "Boganog.")

Yesss thank you guys for reviewing this! I love the original, and I was extremely excited for this! I live in South Jersey about 20 minutes from the Pine Barrens, which is where the Jersey Devil is! It was always a cool bit of lore when I was growing up, and the way they incorporate the whole 13th child thing is awesome! Also, A+ and acting and cinematography in the cold open!

Holy crap I had not heard of this until today. I played the heck out of the original in solo mode (my record is beating 5 monsters using the mayor). I even designed my own custom monster. Very happy this is getting a sequel (ish). Can’t wait to put my hands on it!

I grew up in South Jersey not far from the Pine Barrens myself, so I'm very familiar with the Jersey Devil. I even made a film about the monster about 20 years ago. The original Horrified is my favorite game so I was wondering how this one was.

Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful. I think what’s great is both games hold their own. I think the original did a better job presenting the rulebook and a straightforward approachable family co-op. I think this game took the monster challenges up a notch and the game is harder. I think Universal and American cryptid folklore will appeal differently to different audiences. Both have the game system we know and love. So I’d leave it up to you! We’re keeping both and would play both again. I had more fun with the monster puzzles in American Monsters. Hope this helps! 😂

Ohhh I’ll definitely have to check out that podcast! Sounds like my jam. They did a really awesome job with Big Foot! Our favorite movie from the original is definitely The Invisible Man though The Mummy and Dracula are a close second!

One thing that's stopping me from buying the game is that they used the same investigator powers as original Horrified. I don't like that. It's a simple thing that could've been changed so easily. Other than that, the game looks great.
