The 3 primary Hindu Gods (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) each represents the fundamental cosmic forces of creation, preservation and destruction respectively in the universe. Everything is in a constant state of creation and destruction because it is through that process life is able to exist. And in a particle accelerator (atom smasher) like CERN, that's exactly what they do. They slam existing particles into eachother destroying them and within that process, new particles are created so that they can be studied. That's why they have a Shiva statue there. Hey, a hindu here. The so called idol ( Nataraja) is lord shiva on his dancing pose. The idol itself symbolises creation, preservation and destruction as a cycle of life. It has nothing to do with human sacrifices and related stuff. Hinduism used to be a way of life rather than a religion. It is my understanding that they take tiny particles and accelerate them close to the speed of light, and then smash them into pieces. Then they look at the debris for subatomic particles. These subatomic particles perform different functions that can be measured. The energy required to accelerate mass to the speed of light is infinite, so there is an assumption that these particle colliders could potentially open microscopic black holes. The theory is that they will dissipate almost instantly. How that can be used to send or receive messages from another dimension, I have no idea.
