I’m a big Chucky vhs dvd collector. Yes mgm owned the rights to the original child’s play and universal owns the rights to the rest. Back when this was the set you could get I remember buying child’s play the chuckys 20th birthday edition dvd separate just to have a complete Chucky dvd set with this 4 movie set. It never bothered me that this killer dvd set starts with child’s play 2. The very first Chucky movie I ever saw was child’s play 2. I loved it and it’s what got me so into Chucky. Since part 2 was the first one I watched child’s play 2 in a way is my child’s play 1. That’s why this set never bugged me starting with part 2. Their was another set identical to this but instead of a regular dvd case like yours is it had a slip cover and kinda like a booklet with artwork in it. Universal finally did come to an agreement with mgm to put the original child’s play in future dvd/blu ray sets. So it worked it. We have the Chucky box set that came out in 2013. That has child’s play 1 up to curse and now the newer 2017 set that has 1 up to cult of Chucky.
