Horse can be dangerous and kick instructor!! A big change is needed in this horse's behaviour! Before his owner or instructor gets hurt. He is becoming almost impossible to lunge and when pushed will throw fits and even strike and kick! steve-young-horsemanship.myshopify.com/

When he came over to you sitting on the fence he was looking at you with deep interest. He looked like he was waiting for you to tell him what was next. With so many of the horses you meet, they are looking for guidance, leadership and boundaries. Once again a great demo on how to help them find it. Patience, determination, knowledge and more patience is wonderful to watch, Steve.

Thanks to Steve, Tanya and the awesome owner for allowing us to see steve work on her lovely horse. He did look a bit stiff to the right, but that makes sense given his history. Thanks for telling the story too of the horse in the graveyard!! That was so incredible to hear a bit of the journey Steve’s had as he gained more and more experience! Would love to hear some more of those stories too! ❤

Such interesting behavior! And what I saw was that after lunging on the off side and his unwilling behavior, as soon as you stopped "lunging" and changed the picture in his mind of going back more to a feel of leading and driving, his attitude began to change. Great video! Love your work.

Another very good video with learning to understand your horse. He lost his way and Steve was able to help him and his owner/ trainer to gain the confidence to be able to carry this important ground work onward. Thank you Steve and thanks also to you Tania as you do such a good job through wind and rain to give us the full picture of the training.

The horse is beautiful. I am learning so much about horses from Steve. Love his firm, but kind way of training. He lets the horse think things are their own ideas. I never knew each eye of the horse results in different behavior. I could and do watch this training for hours. Thank you Steve for all you do for the hoses and owners.

I am so grateful to watch all these tool teachings. I’ve been around horses better part of 30 years. Been around numerous American trainers. They DO NOT explain well or show the horse movement so one can capture the teaching. I am so amazed at EVERY VIDEO I see, understand and learn! Steve your teachings are a gift - I learn what the person should do that allows the horse to follow. I am truly grateful to you Both Steve & Tanya! Love from USA! 🐎❤

I see and understand that this horse has some issues. Steve you are doing great work with him. I get a very strong feeling that he never got the rewards from previous owners, when he did what they asked of him. Or maybe they didn't know how to properly read and train him. So he learned to take aggression to survive his own thoughts of not being accepted in the herd. I get a very sad feeling of him not being loved on enough. It is so easy to read that, when watching him in the video. I feel like he really needs to be shown how good he is at every opportunity. It's like he has no confidence in himself. Confused in his own thoughts of never being good enough. Lots of love and appreciation shown to him, just might help him to become an outstanding horse. Sorry for rambling on. But it's weighing heavy on me. As always great work Steve, for you have given this horse some hope of approval !!! ❤

My little mare was very fear - aggressive when I got her as a 3 year old, she'd had no leadership and would strike out with the fronts and kick out with the hinds, she wasn't nasty, she was worried. I spent time grooming her and asking her to give me her feet & every little try told her how wonderful she was, you can never give them enough praise and love and peace. She would protect me from anything! My sweet angel 😇 💖

I think he's a lovely horse and he will be eventually for the owner,it seemed to me although dangerous behavior to a human it was mostly just high spirits and not anything nasty or vicious intent.I think he's spirit just needs direction for the benefit of the lady so she can gel with him, he is still a baby in his head he will learn and grow up soon and be a lovely riding horse for her.Well done Steve you are a wonderful leader for us all, horse and human.X

1 tip some people might find useful and I saw you did it near the begining of the video when the horse wanted to take off a bit when you started the groundwork you didn't pull back on the rope from the front you moved to pull from the side. My father taught me as a kid if I have hold of a rope and the horse wants to bolt or is rearing, get yourself in a postion to pull on the rope from the side. If a horse takes off backwards, forwards or rears up and you're in front holding the rope, they can whip that rope right away from you and it's a losing battle to try and hold on like that but you have a chance holding the pressure from the side and pulling their neck round and they tend to give to that pressure in those situations. Just wanted to point out what you did there if someone might find that helpful. Great work and helpful advice. I've been watching a few of your videos the last few days and I really like your work.

Seeing how important it is for the new trainer to travel to horses home. Moving the horse to a strange stable is so stressful. Watched a trainer that never traveled but had unknown horses dropped off at his stable and they were thrown in with unknown horses and even cattle....Of course he had "problems" and used sticks and whips......

I’ve had the same thoughts. A few of those Guard’s horses could use help. The majority of the Guards have never touched a horse prior to their perfunctory training on them. My mustang mare also had extreme issues longing on her right hand. She was really hollow on the left and stiff on the right. I went with her in the round pen without longe. She really improved her bend. Then back to longe where I had to correct her to stop pulling, but now it was not a physical but a mental issue which I was able to fix.

This horse seems to strike the inside of his own feet on the rear when he walks. He stands square, but when he moves he taps his rear feet together. Might be more willing too if that did not distract him. Right (or off) hind leg moves oddly. I’d have it checked I think.

Havnt read all the comments but here in NZ we have a lot of Passers from the harness racing that need work. The races are all run one way. If the horse here has raced or trained then he will be used to running in one direction. They get hammered in that direction. This could be why they are so anxious about going the other way.
