I agree with most of what you said, but I'm 18 and I've been riding in shows, competitions and everything else for 12 years, and at 0;19, the first thing you learn... NEVER let go of the reigns. So kudos to that girl for holding onto them. Because your horse could take off and trample someone if they are out of control. Look how well that girl controlled her fall, she knew what she was doing. I'm not a snob rider, honestly, I'm just saying you always have to keep your reigns in hand.

Urggh I hate falling off my horse it hurts, but one fall makes you have more experience, you'll become a better rider from learning from your mistakes. I fell off the other day at a jump and I landed on my shoulder, it hurts so much! Awesome video, it shows people to have confidence and if you fall pick yourself back up.

When you fall, ALWAYS let go of your reins, that way your horse is less likely to step on you. I know that a loose horse is a danger, but the rider's safety comes first no matter the situation. My trainer taught me that after I fell off. The first time:)

Great song to go with the result of our horses trying to be what WE want them to be. No need to critique who's fault in each clip. Rider error or not...the words of the song can speak for the horse in all and any disciplines. They're "trying to be what we want them to be."

Most of these riders aren't ready to jump. Until one has enough strength/experience to maintain an independent seat and hand, jumping is asking for trouble. Either the horse will start quitting in self defense, or the rider will stop riding after one too many scares. Thanks for making my day though - it's always nice to see other people having bad days :)

I agree with Kimigal, I know that girl and she held the reins and the horse didn't even get a jarr in the mouth. And the next time she fell of, the horse stood still. It's a good thing to teach the horse to stand still after you fall of, cause a lot of ponies/horses get stressed up and run around and step into their reins and that's not really safe.. But some falls isn't it an option to hold the reins, but try hold them if it's possible.

The girl on the rearing horse on 1.14 did well to stay on, she kept her seat and kept the horse under control. The girl on the bay horse was lucky she didn't get hurt, those hooves were pretty close to her head. Believe it or not, horses aren't machines and they do have off days!

And most important of all - they are horses, and horses are animals. You should never fully trust an animal, as you can't tell what they'll do. Ever. Not even the most obedient, kind horse in the universe. Even they could get scared or something could happen to make 'em lash out or stumble. So yeah, her comment was obviously harsh. ;)

I agree. I don't blame half these horses for doing any of this either. People abuse the use of a bit, by cranking on their faces. Horses are taught leg = forward, and when you get pulling without give, while you have your leg on, that do you expect? come on people. p.s; this isn't my account, so don't complain to this person who's account i'm on. my account is: alainurr .

In your boredom, you've stumbled on quite a good video. Though I have known horses that have actually enjoyed jumping, I've seen a fair amount more that are made to do the stuff because they can, not because they want to. In fact, I've seen horses used for eventing, including my own, that should never have been put through that.

Good vid...made me nervous, though. Some of them were the horse just having had enough (or being dirty), but the majority were the rider error of NOT SITTING BACK!!! I'll admit, I'm guilty of it myself sometimes, but some riders just don't learn until they get pitched headfirst over a fence...
@tinatron17 жыл бұрын
wow...O.o done that about a million times on a single skl pony...i miss her now, she retired ...
@higekiteki17 жыл бұрын
I'm not in America, I'm in Sweden and as far as me or anyone I know, know there are no rules how you do it. But most of the people I know think it's good to hold on, as long as you're not in a dangerous situation (f.e. the other side of the fence, inside the fence, rearing horse or whatever). And especially in crosscountry, if a horse refuse to get caught there it's nearly impossible to continue the competition.
@looneymoo12516 жыл бұрын
Some problems come from the gadgets... AND Some are caused by the 'good' gadgets riders use... Only problem is some horses have a fear of something and all they need is love and of course TRUST..:D
@ilovemyhorses211214 жыл бұрын
@1pollyfarmer2 my instructor said only if you fall off and land on your feet then you should hold onto the reins because sometimes if you are out in a feild and fall off and you hang on and something spooked your horse and you got dragged wouldnt it maybe be better to let go instead of getting dragged and possibly getting a broken neck?(im not nagging at you and im sorry if u think i am its just that everyone keeps saying u should hang on)

This is a great video because it opens my eyes on how dangerous jumping is. I love jumping my horse but I fall a lot, and it does hurt, but you have to get back on and be strong. A lot of riders tense when they go over the jumps so thats partially why they fall off. Im not saying they are bad riders just they have off days. I always have off days riding my horse but you can't let it bother you.
@higekiteki17 жыл бұрын
But it could also teach the horse to stand still after a stop/fall off. This horse whoms rider did not let the reins go after a fall, stayed still the next time and he didn't get hurt in any way. She let them go the moment he stopped so he knew what he did right.
@DeeJayandClover45515 жыл бұрын
