Instead of panicking about public perception of the whip and avoid talking about it, itv on a busy saturday should get a big name jockey to come on the show with his/her whip and explain how and why it is used in a race. Then show what it is made of out of and that is doesn't hurt the horse, perhaps hit themselves on the leg for demonstration. This is the kind of clip that gets to the public rather than them thinking horses are hit with rock hard leather whips. Then the people who are on the fence might think differently about this fantastic sport, the people who are anti racing believing it to be cruel can't be swayed but are currently swaying the folks on the fence to their way of thinking.

Good point. I heard a top ex jock (poss Ruby) explaining what it was like and the equivalent to a human and I remember I explained that to the missus

47:49 I'd just like to beat the punters' drum again. If a horse is DQ'd the punters on the revised winner should be paid. VAR doesn't have to take a week and I dont give a frog's fart what you want to discuss on ITV; you break the rules, you get chucked out and the punters holding a winning ticket get paid. The whip exists, so do the rules; nothing to get hung about. Next time the fav is hit 10 times and the outsider gets the race. Makes not a jot of difference. Man up and do the right thing!

Ive noticed for a while now how Tom Segal pricewise tips horses mainly tipped by sporting life or some other podcast mainly from the former and gives the exact same reasons for tipping.....when he tipped the french horse in the sprint he give the same reason as david johnson on here..........and in the mile he tipped the french horse and i heard those same reasons for that horse.........and this is happening all the time.........

The panel are clowns and so are the authorities that cannot make prompt decisions on clear rules of whip use in horse racing . Totally ridiculous and all to aid betting companies and so called horse racing pundits who don't want there sport ruined by rule breaking..

Jog on with this whip thing it's happened it's not going to happen all the time. normally it happens in big races at a long distance in soft or heavy ground. Disqualification on the day never and it can't be changed there's not enough time. Look back to aga Khan in the oaks.

Now back to champions day racing I wait all week for the Saturday racing and we get 6 races 4 of which will probably have very short price favs .this is very poor for a Saturday the racing is more competitive at caterick

think the fav in the mares race is beatable on the ground....dont think charyn is a good thing in the mile though he is a worthy fav.....kyprios should win the 2 miler if france has not taken it out of him......the other race looks a 2 horse race though the only 1 at a massive price i could see running well is luxembourg........

i love doing a place pot but kyprios charyn and probably of the 2 calandogon look sure to be in the 3.......then you have in the sprint the front 2 will love the ground so you could see 1 or both coming in the frame..all in all it doesnt look to pay much.......
