I love the story however there were a few mistakes a young female horse is a Philly spelled F I,LLY and I am not sure how Garrett was able to feed her milk with grain that the milk softened. I am also surprised that the vet didn’t do some intervenous feeding or something however, I don’t know how long ago the story took place. It was a story with a happy ending, and it was clean and full of love. Thank you.

Back in 1966 a friend from South High School told me that a certain girl Elouise Higgins was going horseback riding at Flowing JJ Ranch & I really liked her, so I went to do that too! Dennis who was the son of the owner made sure I couldn't ride with her by hiding all the other horses except one which was Strawberry a very large horse, about 17 hands tall & Dennis said I would get killed if I tried to ride her! 2 friends from Thunderbird lodge, John Bluehorse & Bill Thunderwater told me how to get a violent horse to calm down so it could be ridden! They were from the Navaho Tribe! I did what they said to do & I rode Strawberry! After the ride I took Strawberry to the stable & brushed her down good and when I had finished, I gathered up my backpack to go she walked to the door & wouldn't let me leave! I really miss Strawberry, my experience with her has never left me. Unfortunately she is gone, horses don't live forever! 🍓 🍓

I recall a story my grandfather told me he witnessed in the First WW. One of his cavalry comrades was killed in battle and fell off his horse to the ground. In the heat of the battle no-one recovered the horse and it stood where his rider fell. When the fight eased someone recovered the horse and tied it in the camp with other horses. The soldier was not recovered and left where he fell. In the morning the horse was gone and seen from afar where his owner died. For days the war waged and the horse stood like a statue on the spot where the man fell. Later my grandfather noticed the horse on the ground and on his belly, he crawled to the horse to see if it was killed or still alive. It was, but too weak to get up. with no water for days, it was dying and it broke my grandpa's heart. He put an end to the suffering of the horse since it could not be rescued. Still today, that story brings tears to my eyes.
