Former Lipizzaner breeder here... I can definitely see Hungarian Lipizzaner in Black Beauty. They're shaped somewhat differently than the Austrian Lipizzaners, and there is a much higher percentage of true blacks in the Hungarian population. What a classy horse. He'll look amazing once he's gained some weight and some muscle. Whoever adopts him will really end up with something special!

A part of me was very angry with the Amish guy who packed them into the trailer that way. But... he also went to the auction and got more horses out of there to bring to Horse Plus. He likely paid less for them at auction than he got back from Horse Plus through the buy out program, so he probably made a little profit. However, they still ended up with Horse Plus instead of shipping to slaughter. The ones who can be saved now have a chance at a new life. And those who couldn't, went out peacefully and painlessly, surrounded with love.

I can see Akhal Teke in his ears and the way his neck goes into his withers. It's a slender breed of horse, too. Not saying he isn't underweight. But he won't fill out like a QH or typical horses we usually see in the US. He's going to be even more STUNNING when he is up to proper weight. 😍

Fun fact about Caspian horses, their genetics are so old they are considered as one of the ancestral breeds for all oriental breeds we know now (akhal-theke, barb, Arabian and Turkoman are the most known) the barb is on its turn the foundation breed for alot of European breeds such as the lippizaner, Andalusian,... So flows nicely in together with black beauty.

Thankfully the owners of the three dogs ensured their horses wouldn’t suffer unduly that they donated them to Horse Plus. Their dogs are obviously happy souls, so it must have been a terrible experience for them to be unable to feed them, let alone themselves.I cannot understand how a family can lose their food stamps if they cannot afford to feed themselves. Obviously not all owners are bad people, but sometimes their circumstances are beyond their control. So let’s hope this family can enjoy a Merry Christmas like their dogs, thanks to the generosity of others.

So sad to hear about Sir Galahad‘s passing! He is in a better place and is now resting peacefully. Happy to see Troy doing some evaluations! Some of the horses from the buyout program have been is such a rough shape. I am just glad you were able to step up and help them. The rescue mission with the dogs had me in tears. „They lost their food stamps“. I fell an pretty bad hardships after an emergency back surgery four years ago and have been unable to work since then. I am well aware if I wouldn’t have been living in Germany I could have easily ended up on the streets myself. So glad the dogs have been rescued! And my favorite adopter, Susan, has been back, I have been waiting for her! She is just so kind and nice. I love how she advocates for blind horses. Oh my gosh, Black Beauty has Akal Thekene in him! I was thinking about that breed when I saw him but completely regarded it as it seemed very unlikely. So glad he was saved! What an outstanding TEAM you have at HP! To think that you accomplish so much with such a small Core Team is a credit to the willingness to go beyond average and to do the IMPOSSIBLE. Also, this year has been unique with its challenges, and with its triumphs over adversity. I was so pleased to see the lady return for two more blind horses.....she is awesome and a confirmed supporter of HP. The three starving dogs Tawnee picked up from the boondocks beyond cell service is also a commentary on the lack of resources in your area.....not just the dogs, but the plight of their human family is equally distressing. May the New Year find all humans in need with full bellies, and all the animals in need having a safe haven. God bless all of the HP Team, all of the supporters as well. Enjoyed this vlog very much. Thank you for the great work you do. I have been a foster mom for our local humane society for many years.. If I can make a few suggestions regarding puppies you so generously take in. That cute little girl at the front desk was saying the puppies were only five weeks old and maybe they could not wormed yet. Puppies need to be wormed at 2,4,6, and 8 weeks. Five weeks old,, if they have not been dewormed, they are past due. If you try putting a lightweight vinyl dog house in those large stalls with cedar shavings. it will keep them off the floor, warmer, and they will smell better. The dog houses can be disinfected between different pups that come in. They learn to distinguish the sleeping area from the potty area. Puppy pads are useful for training young pups where to potty, and will keep the concrete floors cleaner. Puppies, as I’m sure you are aware, can develop coccidia and giardia from stepping in their poop, licking their paws, and ingesting the bacteria. You can take these suggestions with a grain of salt. You guys know what you are doing. I was just trying to pass on some hacks I have learned over the years. 🤓

Happy New Year to all there. That mother and foal are adorable. She seems especially calm about having you with her foal too which will make life a lot easier. That one Kory gave a hug to seemed like they'd have happily stayed like that all day. There are some amazing looking horses in this group and sadly some in horrendous condition. I know the best decision will be made for them as always. The last hands touching them will be loving ones. I was sad to see that one blind horse need a final goodbye. They looked like they'd been dusted with a light layer of snow. That poor mimi with the shoulder more or less out of joint should not have needed to get all the way to you to have the right thing done for her. While I know you all want to get back into the auction, I sort of hope you rescue enough before they get sold there that they have to shut down. As you said, they stuck a hill in the way and you all build a tunnel with a superhighway going through it. The state can't say Boo now. I'm sure the good ol' boys will try to find other hurdles to put in your way, because they are too stupid to realize that jumping hurdles makes you stronger.
