This is the British Household Cavalry, Mounted Regiment - who are typically based in London - on protection duties for the Royal Family. Here you see them on a break - on the beaches of Holkham in Norfolk - where they have the freedom to 'have some fun'.

This brought tears to my eyes to see the troopers and horses enjoying quality time together being able to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings . Well deserved after the hours of guard duty at horse guards. Lovely the horses can run free and have no tourists invading their space. Enjoy every minute you deserve a well earned holiday.

Those horses are loved beyond measure by the soldiers, and the horses do have the opportunity to run free... just not on a public beach.

@@Lee-kg7ze Main stables are on the edge of Hyde Park but obviously the King has many green spaces. People seem to assume the horses are forced to stand on concrete all their lives!! LOL.

Just lovely, I know from personal experience just how most horses love a good canter thru the shallows at the beach. The salt water in some way is good for the tendons. I used to go bare back that way the horse could also swim without ruining and my sadle. Good on you troopers, what a wonderful break for for these equine star troopers ❤️❤️

I lived near Holkham & we exercised our horses there regularly, especially when the ground was too frozen in winter(sand stays soft) , but I never saw the Army there

Horses are made for this, not walking and trotting on pavement all day, they should be rotated once a month for Service in Town and one month break on a Country Estate to relax and ease their Joints on Hacks , the Royal Family has enough Estates to do so…❤

Spurs are signs of an educated leg. Marking a horse with your spurs is and always has been a chargeable offence in the Army.

Yes there are women Troopers in both regiments of The Household Cavalry . This is a summer break for them they also go out to grass in Melton Mowbray regularly .

Good to see them being able to stretch their legs and behave like horses. I hope they all get to go 'on holiday' at least three of four times a year, their life in London must be hell for them. Just look at the way they toss their heads when on parade: probably because of the double bit in their mouth. Poor things. Living in luxurious stables and being groomed every day is not enough to make a horse happy. He has psychological needs as well, like being free to gallop as much as he likes.
