Where is this at? Why is the water so blue? Is the pond natural or man-made? I just cannot get over that blue water. Is it an optical illusion, or is it really blue?

We aerate the water year round and add blue dye which prevents algae growth. The pond is man made, we had to make it to raise the area the barn is at and this is the lowest part of the property so all of the water flows here. We are in Southern WI

Is the dye in the pond good for horses? My friend has a pond with a lot of dye and if you go in your hair and white clothes get blue stains.

It is safe for all animals, it's actually food coloring. We have fish in our pond also.

Yup. To cool there stomach. If the paw at the ground its usually because they're want to roll but want to make sure the ground is safe of rocks, holes and so on.

Flies also probably hate the water, so by getting their belly/legs wet, it helps get rid of fly eggs and flies themselves.

You can read in the comments that it's actually food dye, you know, to colour icecream or cake. There is also fish in that pond, and it's their food. :-)
