My most recent DIY project; a school of fish sculpture for a recent graduate. Get it? School of fish? Fish are made from horseshoes and welded to make a school.

Instead of putting the horseshoe in the vise and working it with your wire wheels lock the grinder in the vise and work the shoe in your hand. It gives you more control and less arm strain

That is a truely extraordinary work in "horseshoe art". Thank you very much for showing. I'm wondering why there are not hundreds more of likes and I assume, the words horseshoe and welding are missing in the title? I love the result, however. Allow me two questions to the process: How do you know, your work is about 500° and the blackening will work? Right now I am only guessing and making it frequently to hot. Second, what are the metal balls you used for the eyes? They look a bit as if they were stainless steel, but are probably not? I could see myself making something similiar but wouldn't know were to find good fish eyes, right now.

I think I will take in the consideration relabeling this video. As of the heat, I do have a laser pointer Temperature gun. These days you can find them very cheap on Amazon. Also the ball bearings you can find on Amazon you really want to use steel balls not ball bearings ball bearings are hardened and can shatter. Here’s a link. Hey there!. Working in this now. How do you get the ball bearings to be shinning steel again??? Did you have something on your towel??

I thought I put it in the video. I use a scotch bright just on the ball bearing.

William Moore it was actually a combination of both. I had a few laying around but I needed a few more. I went and bought them at tractor supply
