Welcome back to my channel everyone. Today's video is an insight into an at home training session with the ponies. This day we were working on a gymnastics exercise to improve their technique and power over a fence. Find out how Wilma and Jam got on, and let me know who you think jumped it best.

Meg, as you ride down the grid, before you enter it, decide which way you will turn at the end of the grid. In the air over last jump, look the way you want to go after the jump and weight slightly the stirrup on the side you want to turn. She will land in the lead you want! I know in one of your lessons, someone taught you this. I was seeing Wilma diving right after last jump as that’s the way you’ve let her turn most of the time. Not good. You need to ride the jump after the landing and after the turn and keep going further if you plan to stop. If you look where you want to go and weight the turning side stirrup slightly, you will be thrilled with her landing in the correct lead. That turning your head while in the air might help you learn to keep your eyes! What a lovely rider you are! Absolutely love your training vlogs at home or away. We can always learn from you.

You certainly didn't set yourself up an easy one, with the tight turns and the bounces to long 2 stride. Well done you for challenging yourself and your horses! Also I love the long walk warm up. Always such good horsemanship. Your string of competition horses for this season is really awesome, as usual.

Love this sort of vlog Meg! It is so educational - thank you for walking the distance.....at the beginning I was pausing the video and trying to count your steps (I'm just learning distances!) and then you did a full on demo! Happy days 😁 This vlog I will watch many times! Both Wilma and Jam look amazing. Also your riding is just spot on, honestly it really is, just a pleasure to watch 😀

I notic you don't use the corners of your arena which can be a very good way of getting your horse's inside hind leg underneath her and there by improve the connection to the outside rein and would help to stop the shoulder from falling out.

I would suggest buying a laser that you can put on the ground so all the jumps are straight without having to finesse it manually! Loved this video, you seem a lot more focused and goal oriented without being rigid with your expectations. I got the feeling last year that you didnt really have a set goal and point of the exercises (that you kept to) with what you wanted to achieve unless you were with a trainer. I really love your new mindset and approach to riding, its really inspiring to watch! Thank you for sharing this with us!❤️

Very nice video of the approach to this exercise. Love the colors of the jump poles❤. First thing in noticing about your form and how it has changed in general is your shoulders are more forward of your hips now than they used to be. So you aren't sitting as straight in the saddle as you warm up. Almost like you are hunched and that makes a bit of a wave from back to front which, at least for me, when there is discomfort, the movement makes it a tad more tolerable. This makes me wonder if it isn't time for you to have more chiropractic. I used to do this when I got sore between the shoulder blades so now I'm wondering ...how much TLC and maintenance are you doing on your body during this intense workup of sorts. You don't want to burn out by May. Or get too sore. ❤ It truly IS never ending. Lol Lastly, instead of sea sawing in the reins to get her to bring her head down, bend the knee a bit more and carry more weight in the stirrups as you sit the rising trot so you land very softly. The head comes down when we set a rhythm and get relaxation and the legs start swinging nicely and she will then start stepping under more on her own and then the head comes down as she seeks contact. When you see saw her head down she is just learning to move in an artificial frame that doesn't truly let her use her whole body. At this point she hasn't been trained or if moving naturally and you should try to preserve that. ❤❤❤❤

Was it in your lesson/ demo in London where they got you and Jammie to think shoulder in on the turns? And it made a massive difference, I am no expert but it looked like same thing would help on this exercise as she gets slightly out of alignment with her shoulders on the tight turns? or I could be making @@$ up😅

Meg, now that you have a horse sized horse you might need a bigger arena. Or to do pole work in a field where you don't have to pull them into a turn right after a jump. I know that's good practice for arena and xc jumping but it's got to frighten the youngsters.

It’s harder to turn left by the gate as there’s jumps in the corner. If you were to clear that corner it wouldn’t be as short. Turning right is far easier as there isn’t as much in the corner ☺️
