Great video! Thank you! What a lovely trip for you, two and the pup! I’m going up alone this month of September for a day trip from Tempe. Figure I’ll leave around 5AM arrive around 6:40 AM or so; on a weekday. Hike in to the Springs and back. This trip I’m wearing snake gaiters. No one seems to be wearing them. But I’m 76 years old and alone on this hike, and I like to go down off trail by the water. It looks like the trails are well marked to the Springs. It doesn’t look like I need bear spray, It’s marked near country. Did you have that on hand? Did you need those hiking poles? I think the unmarked, steep switchbacks they talk about must be the mile further up past the Springs and that crazy “pile of rocks and wooden sign.”

Thanks Rusty! We had a blast and I'm hoping to do that hike again soon. I didn't see anyone in snake gators either but I've seen/heard rattlesnakes at other creeks on the rim so that's not a bad idea. Plus I agree that you've gotta go down and enjoy the water! Also didn't carry bear spray but there's bears up there. Enjoy the trip!

The falls @ the 5:20 mark, did you go off trail for those falls? I was there last week and did t notice that great spot but we mainly stayed on the main trail

We followed a branch off the main trail down a little ways to the creek and found that spot. I'm looking forward to going back this summer and checking out more spots along the water

Can you have a fire? About how many people camped there? Plan on going in 3 weeks and worried about no camp spots available. Thanks!

The campsites near the spring have rock fire rings but you'll have to check the fire restrictions before you go. By the end of Saturday afternoon there were about 6 small groups camping somewhat near the spring. If those sites are full when you get there you'll be able to find a good site along the creek on the hike in. Enjoy!

No permit or camping fee. There's a parking lot near the trailhead that has about 20 spots and more parking along the road but it fills up on busy weekends. We are thinking of going there next Tuesday and Wednesday. But we can’t arrive at the parking lot until 10 or 11. Do you think that will be an issue? We’re hoping to stay two nights in one location or two separate locations. If you have any recommendations let us know thanks.
