Hospital nurse found dead after taking prank call on Catherine

A nurse at the hospital who was duped by a prank call from two Australian radio DJs concerning Prince William's pregnant wife, Catherine, has apparently committed suicide, the hospital confirmed Friday.
The nurse "was recently the victim of a hoax call," King Edward VII Hospital said in a media statement.
The DJs impersonated Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles in the prank call, in which some details of the Duchess of Cambridge's condition and care were given.
The nurse who died was the person who first took the hoax call and transferred it through to Catherine's ward, the hospital's public relations company said.
The hospital named her as Jacintha Saldanha and said she had worked there for more than four years as an "excellent nurse," well-respected by co-workers.
The hospital "had been supporting her throughout this difficult time," the statement said.
She is survived by her husband and two children, the hospital said.
Her family released a statement asking for privacy and directing questions to police.

The royal family should be ashamed by this tragedy. This was a prank, people take things too seriously. If you wish for folk to be so up tight, then the hospital should correct their practices and procedures. This lies at the feet of the hospital.

Was it suicide. Did the palace come down on the nurse like a tonne of bricks? Why did the nurse put this call through....fullstop? Did her employer give her a warning? Was she threatened? God knows ALL very fishy! And no, I don't blame th DJs either!

the hospital I think claimed in the video above 'that they were supportive right the way through in all of this' but I call B.S., who knows what management and her colleagues really treated her like after this. From what I gather working in British companies they would have probably treated her like a social pariah and given her the cold shoulder.

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on people blame shifting on the djs, the two djs are not responsible for the nurse killing herself. The nurse had a history of suicide, only person in the wrong is the nurse.

The djs have done no wrong at all. The nurse had a history of suicide two times before this time.

What the heck?! Are you kidding me? Yes, it might not have been the wisest idea, killing yourself, but why in the world- royal, Hollywood celebrity or average guy/girl- should anyone's confidentiality be breached? No hospital should be pranked like that! No hospital patient, pregnant or not, royal or not, should have had to suffer a breach of her privacy, leaked details about her body during this stressful time! I don't believe that this nurse is completely blameless, anymore than I believe Mel Greig and Michael Christian are completely to blame- they obviously had no idea- but it was irresponsible to say the least!

@@nadyayap2714 the nurse knew that Kate Middleton was in the hospital, someone called up claiming to be the queen, she may not have had the language accent detection skills to not know that it wasn't the queen and therefore who was she to deny the queen a conversion with her grandchild's wife ? she could of got into more hot water blocking the call if it was genuine.

Old video I know but I’m just watching it again. In Australia, no matter who you were…. You couldn’t get details of a patient over the phone. You would possibly get a “they’re doing fine” but that’s it. Information is given face to face to appropriate individuals. Never over the phone as PEOPLE CAN PRETEND, aka a scam or prank 🤦🏽‍♀️ These guys could not have foreseen this result.
